Do they really need more shooting guards?

And do they really want to lose cousins after his best season?

I'm not putting picks in this trade but picks will be given too .Minnesota and Memphis 2 1st each . 1 1st from Knicks 3 from Celtics as well as 2 2nds from both to Minnesota and Memphis . Also a 2nd from both Minnesota and Memphis to go to the Knicks for taking the contract of Martin .

Why Minnesota does this : stright salery dump , can resign Bass Shumpert and/or Tyler on somewhat the cheep . Well perhaps not Shumpert . They weren't going to compete next year . They go all in to tank next year . Gets some 1st and 2nds

Why Memphis does this : 2 1st and 2 2nds . The combined 30 pts of offence that Green & Smith will give you . Potential in Faverani on a good contract . Prince can be then traded for a PG to backup Conley .

Why Boston does this : easy the best player in the deal to team up with Rondo . Loses 3 1st rounders 1 2nd rounder

Why New York does this : to get the most talent back . Loses 1 1st rounder 3 2nds

So wait Minnesota trades Love for Shumpert, a back up big (who could be had for anything), and to clear Martin? Lmao

Then Memphis trades Marc Gasol for JR and Green? Hahaha oh my.

No amount of 1sts/2nds could change how awful this is.

Even with our awkward big rotation: Dalembert, Cole, Amar'e, Bargnani, and Smith (plus Melo at the 4?), I'd look into getting a young big on the roster. Some guys whose value is probably low enough to get for either our TPE (if they're under contract) or a as minimum FA signing for us right now: Meyers Leonard, Donatas Motiejunas, and Alexis Ajinca. I'd also look into inviting Anthony Randolph or Lou Amundson to training camp.

I see Okafur is still a FA. What do you think his worth is? think we can pick him up. I think he would be the toughness this teams needs.

we could do several deals around JR for Pero Antic.

We could come out offering JR for Antic + Carroll.

We could then try to do a JR + Bargs for Antic + Jenkins (might be able to just slide under the cap-didn't look in detail).

Frankly, however, I would probably do JR for Antic straight up. Gives us a guy that I am comfortable starting at center for us and helps us create room to re-sign Shump next season. Although, without looking it up, I am unsure what Antic's cap hold would be.

Robert Randolph at it again saying a 3 team trade could go down but he won't say what teams (other than knicks) and what players are involved...he doesn't want to compromise the trade

Strongly disagree. First of all the Cavs/Knicks apparently discussed something around Shump/Waiters during the season, but apparently the Knicks weren't interested. http://espn.go.com/new-york/nba/story/_ ... on-waiters

Waiters did finish the year strong, but I don't think Cleveland needs a ball dominating, scoring SG with LeBron, Irving and potentially Love. They DESPERATELY need some defensive players. Plus they brought in Miller and they might get Ray Allen. Right now they need guys to fit next to Irving/LeBron and their only good defenders are Varajao and LeBron... Shumpert is the perfect fit. The thing that makes it even better for the Cavs is that Waiters has already stressed his displeasure with coming off the bench. Is that the guy you want to keep around? Especially when if he's going to have any success on that team- it'd be as an instant offense 6th man combo guard.

Fwiw, I don't want Waiters at all. Sure it makes sense because he'd still be on his rookie deal next summer... but I don't think he's necessary with JR/Tim here. Even if you trade JR, you can't really get the most out of either Tim or Waiters with them both here. At least Shumpert compliments them and can play SF.

If Waiters isn't willing to accept a 6th man role on what could be the best team in the league, I really question his priorities.

He also said that we were getting Pau, LeBron, and/or Gay. And that's just in the past month  His track record is at the Incarcerated Bob level.

BUT FWIW, we do have the perfect pieces to be a third team in a bigger trade. Like one of those trades where a team needs to send out a little more $ but the other team doesn't want to take it back so they bring in a team with capspace/TPEs/unguaranteed contracts to take on the unwanted deals for like a 2nd round pick. Or if not that, then the opposite since I have a feeling Ellington will be traded before training camp (waiving him would be as stupid as when we waived Corey Brewer).

Something nice in a few months.

Knicks get - Mike Conley

Grizzlies get - Jose Calderon, Eric Gordon, Thanisis Antek., & Jeremy Tyler

Pelicans get - Courtney Lee, Iman Shumpert & Tayshaun Prince

Knicks pray JR opts out next offseason & we're in business. Can go after both Kevin Love & Marc Gasol to add to Conley, Timmy & Melo.

Grizzlies do this to help keep Marc Gasol there. Bring his friend Calderon to run point & add a dynamic SG in Eric Gordon. Add 2 decent prospects to work with as well. The hope is that Gasol still leaves but hey, at least they can say they tried.

Pelicans finally rid themselves of Gordon & adds Shumpert to Holiday while saving money & adding a nice 2 off the bench.

very good trade for us except that Green enters free agency this summer and would either cost us a lot or could be signed outright then anyway

losing THjr would hurt right now

we already have bargs and larkin. Two very similar players you are acquiring. plus unless you considered them 1 year rentals they would hit our cap next eyar at over 3 million.

I would rather just let shump play out the season and hopefully increase his value then take back that kinda deal.

I'd do that deal. I would love to get D-Mo here. He's a potential great triangle fit and would be one of my top trade targets right now. He's poised to break out.

He has shown some signs of developing a really nice post game. He has looked awesome in summer league and I don't think its one of those things thats a fluke.
