Who does Kidd want to play PG?

Here's a list of PG's, ranked by assists per 48:

Code: Select all

RK   PLAYER              TEAM  AP48M   wanted   possible?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
1    Chris Paul          LAC   14.7                no
2    Kendall Marshall    LAL   14.6
3    Rajon Rondo         BOS   14.1
4    Steve Nash          LAL   13.2      no

We would happily switch him and Knight.

Interesting looking back just a little bit with this. No need to switch we have both now.

Marshall is very interesting and might just be worth investing some time in. Could be very valuable to our young prospects.

Still can't figure out why in the hell the Lakers thought it was a good idea waiving him.

Maybe the figured they still owed us a little for Kareem?

They had to in order to free up room to claim Boozer off the waiver wire. Apparently they didn't expect their bid of $3.25 million to win, so when they did get him, they were kind of left with their pants down. So they waived Marshall hoping to re-sign him once he cleared the waiver wire, which of course he didn't.

2005 - Spurs, PG = Tony Parker, stars: Duncan & Ginobili
2006 - Miami, PG = Jason Williams, stars: DWade & Shaq
2007 - Spurs, PG = Tony Parker, star: Francisco Elson
2008 - Celtics, PG = Rajon Rondo, stars: Pierce, Garnett & RayRay
2009 - Lakers, PG = Derek Fisher, stars: Kobe & Pau
2010 - Lakers, PG = Derek Fisher, stars: Kobe & Pau
2011 - Dallas, PG = HC, star: Dirk

I can't think of Francisco Elson without thinking of...

If Kidd were our coach back then he could have played Elson at point. What a waste of potential...

Conclusion: Unless you have Kobe or DWade (another star helps a little...), a great PG should be a very high priority.

hmm. the other way of looking at that is to say that a great PG is not needed to win a title...

The obvious conclusion is that having great players is more important than having a pass first pg. You can figure out how to get those players the ball without having a ball dominant classic pg. Not sure why this board has an obsession with that type of player anyway. The classic pg position.seems to be slowly fading just like the classic c position before it.

Well, without a real good PG it only worked with Kobe and with Wade + Shaq or LBJ. Remember Miami failed without Wade this year.
The Bucks don't have a player like Kobe or Wade and won't get one in the near future. So the best chance for succes is to get a PG like Billups or Rondo. That should be possible.
I think the target should be CP3 in 2017. That will only work if the Bucks are close to a top 5 team (but not close to winning), Kidd is still HC and the Bucks are able to pay Chris Paul a lot.

There is a distinct chance Rondo will be on the market. The Celtics rebuild is likely to take longer than Rondo wants to wait, and the Cs drafted a point guard in Marcus Smart.

If the Cs do put Rondo on the market, the Bucks are one of the teams where he would be a good fit.

I would imagine Danny Ainge would ask for Knight, Giannis and filler, maybe a future no. 1. Or possibly Knight, filler and several no. 1 picks, like 2015, 2017 and 2019.

With all the talk about acquiring another PG (first Bledsoe then we signed Marshall) it seemed like Knight was definitely going to be moved to the 2. Hammond in a radio interview began talking about Knight working on being a true PG with Kidd, which makes me confused as to who will start at 1 now. Are they keeping Knight there? They paired Knight with other PG's a lot last year so I have no idea what the plan is. I'd like to see Wolters get a shot to start even though Marshall is here, it'd be a good competition to have between them at the very least. Two young PG's battling for the starting role with Knight playing the 2. I'm really interested to see what the lineup will be under Kidd, so many options.

Like the time I caught the ferry over to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for my shoe, so, I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on 'em. Give me five bees for a quarter, you'd say.

Now where were we? Oh yeah: the important thing was I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn't have white onions because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...

Rondo is worth nowhere near what you think he is, especially to a team like the Bucks who isn't in any situation to compete and might not even be able to keep him past next season.
