The recovery is killing me. I can get the form down but my CNS is just about fried all the time and I feel like I'm sacrificing progress everywhere else to keep upping my squat. It's getting to the point where I'm dreading squatting because I know it saps 70% of my energy. It's just too exhausting to keep squatting three days a week at continually increasing weights.

I did deload down to about 235, but every time I cross 250-260 my CNS starts giving out on me.

Interesting...I can only speculate but since I obviously can't see what's going on I can't say for sure. If you are unable to do a 3X5 set with proper form and the right amount of speed, the next workout do you still increase weights? You're supposed to only increase weights once you have successfully done 3X5. Or maybe you're adding too much weight? When I would progress I would only progress by 5 pounds.

For instance, if you go in on Monday and you can do 2X5 with good speed and good form but only 1X4 for the last set then you are supposed to stick with the same weight on Wednesday. If you are unable to progress on Friday and Monday again, then you deload by twenty pounds and work your way back up. If memory serves me correctly, Rippetoe designed the program so that it would take roughly 7-9 months. When I was doing Starting Strength, I was on it for about 9 months before I had to move on to the intermediate program.

Another issue could be that you have plateaued. I believe once you have deloaded three times on the squat then you are supposed to move on to the intermediate Starting Strength program (it's similar for the most part, but it includes pull ups and rows).

In case you don't have the book, here's the wiki for Starting Strength (look on the right side of the page at 1-6.

Guys what do you think of starting a PC board fantasy basketball league? Maybe make things interesting and make it two owners per team to help us all get to know each other more and work together! Thoughts?

I don't know the history all that well, but I feel like Montana, Brady, Manning, and Marino HAVE to be up there as 4 of the top 5, in some order.

Those 4 + Steve Young is my 5 personally.

1. Peyton Manning
2. Joe Montana
3. Tom Brady
4. Dan Marino
5. Johnny Unitas

I think Rodgers gets in the top 5 when all is said and done.

That'd be pretty sweet. I just got into fantasy basketball last season and loved it. My Isaiah Thomas pickup made me look like a mastermind.

Top 5 in no particular order

Johnny U
Joe Montana
Peyton Manning
Tom Brady
Brett Favre

Otto Graham should get a mention for the pre-Super Bowl guys. He's like the Bill Russell of the NFL. No one won like him and he still holds a passing record or two.

I grew up rooting for the Redskins and whoever was playing Dallas that week, but even so, I'd take Roger Staubach over Marino or Favre. It may be winner's bias but he was Joe Montana with better scrambling before the rules changed to make it much easier for offenses; just an ice cold competitor with great decision making.

Another candidate would be Sammy Baugh; the Brett Favre of the early years. Completely fearless, monster stats . . . and still holds the NFL punting average record (shorter drops but still).

I definitely should have qualified my list with the fact that I have 0 knowledge of NFL players before the Montana-era 49ers. So my top 5 should be construed as a post-80 list, though I know old heads who would probably still stand by my list, with the possible exception of replacing Young with Unitas/Staubach/Elway/Favre.

I'm surprised not one list had Elway... I'm not a big NFL guy but a lot of people talk about him with the same reverence as Montana

Top 5 QBs (not in order)

Unitas
Montana
Brady
Manning
Marino

I don't think Elway was better than Staubach (top 10) or Marino, so he's not in my top 5.

Had Bono too who was decent. Grbac was overrated but I think they got some value when they traded him off.

Walsh was just pumping out QBs and future head coaches. Damn...I haven't posted on a 49ers forum in ages. :(

For me, I watched the movie Reservoir Dogs by Quentin Tarantino and I was absolutely blown away by how awesome it was. After that, whenever I sign up for message boards I always do an iteration of ReservoirDawgs because my high school self thought it was funny and clever and I see no reason to change it.

Additionally, everyone should go see Guardians of the Galaxy. I saw it last night with a friend and it's an incredibly entertaining movie.

Drza is a nickname my college teammates gave me. My standard nickname Is "Dre'", and there was a rap group called The Wu Tang clan with a member named The Gza, sometimes called the Genius. My teammate/roommate Brian one day called me "The drza, the genius" and it stuck. From that day on the GT track team started calling me the drza, or variations thereof. Jeff Garcia was really good too.
