Re: ROH (Ring of Honor) Thread
They've started to fill out the show and the good news is that AJ Styles will be on both shows, the bad news is he won't wrestle Adam Cole on either. At the Milwaukee show he's wrestling Kyle O'Reilly and at the Chicago show he's wrestling Cedric Alexander. They've also added Michael Elgin vs Tomasso Ciampa to the Chicago show. To my surprise, the Milwaukee show is looking like it could be the better show. I think Kyle O'Reilly's a bit better than Cedric Alexander but I think the World Title match in Milwaukee will be significantly better. Even if he's a heel, having the World Title match in the challenger's hometown basically ensures a hot crowd. And also, I'm not the biggest Ciampa fan but do really like Silas Young.
I'm not working either day and right now I'm leaning towards going to the Milwaukee show.

To me Ciampa's selling point has always been his finisher. Love O'Reilly though. One of my faves on the indy scene right now. Always seen him an Cole as like a DB/HBK kinda thing.

Where are you guys getting the card information?
All I can find for the Toronto show is a list of wrestlers signed to attend, but not match ups.

On there website, they may not have any matches announced for the Toronto show since that's not for another almost 4 weeks whereas the Milwaukee and Chicago shows are less than 2 weeks away.

Re: ROH (Ring of Honor) Thread
I've just recently started paying attention to ROH again. reDRagon vs. The Young Bucks was an awesome match. I only show the Young Bucks and TNA and wasn't overly impressed. Those dudes are talented, hope the tweets about them going to the WWE are true. I'm Interested in attending the Milwaukee show.

Re: ROH (Ring of Honor) Thread
I've been sitting here watching Briscoe Brothers promos for the past half hour plus. Most of them I've seen before but I just came across the one after they won the ROH tag titles for the 7th time and Jay has on "big man's" shoes. High comedy right there.

Re: ROH (Ring of Honor) Thread
Did anyone else make it to the show? I had a lot of fun, I enjoyed pretty much all the matches, the 6 man tag and AJ/O'Reilly were really good, but the Young Bucks and Briscoes killed it, the crowd was going insane almost the entire match. It was really cool getting to see so many of those guys live for the first time, and I never really noticed it watching online but seeing AJ with the IWGP Heavyweight Championship made me realize how big that belt is, it was like twice the size of the ROH tag belts.

Re: ROH (Ring of Honor) Thread
ROH had an iPPV last night, which I didn't catch but will soon. Much to my surprise they had a title change. On one hand I was surprised because I don't think Jay Briscoe is the guy he'd drop the title to. But OTOH it makes a lot of sense. I didn't think Elgin was anything special as champion and him getting the title it seemed like it was more about them wanting to make a splash on there first foray onto PPV. Briscoe is super, super over but I also don't think he's a long term champion either. Adam Cole has said that his contract expires at the end of the year and assuming he returns (A fairly large assumption because I imagine WWE would have a lot of interest), I think they get the title on him at some point later this year or early next year. I also imagine AJ's going to drop the IWGP title back to Okada or Tanahashi (probably Okada) later this year. And AJ chasing Adam Cole for the ROH title is the ROH money program.
Speaking of which, AJ-Adam Cole had there first singles match on this show and that was the main reason I had interest in this show. And everything I've read is the match lived up to expectations.

so Briscoe is the 2nd 2time champ in RoH history

We were talking in another thread - who could be built up to be a legit challenger for Lesnar, and given a couple of years, Elgin might be the best prospect. But he may end up being his own worst enemy.

as much as i would love to see Elgin v Lesnar I find it very difficult to believe that the E would push Elgin as a legit challenge due to his size. He's smaller than all the guys mentioned in the other thread as believable challengers (including Cena) not to mention the fact that they have a Elgin sized wrassler in Big E if they wanted to push someone with that build as viable.

Re: ROH (Ring of Honor) Thread
There seems to be some combination of 4 reasons as to why Elgin dropped the title: 1. Him saying he wanted to try out for MLB, 2. Him losing the Indy show, 3. Visa issues, and 4. They weren't satisfied with his performance as champion.
I'd say logically it would seem like it would primarily be some combination of numbers 3 and 4. The MLB comment seemed more like a bucket list-type dream than a realistic career option. And I'd say Adam Cole doing interviews with the ROH Title saying he's interested in going to WWE would be viewed more negatively, if you were going to get upset about things like that. The Indy show thing, I don't know if the current booker(s) are as old school but Christopher Daniels has told stories about how when he was in ROH and TNA and Jim Cornette was the booker he was a top heel in ROH and a midcard babyface in TNA and Cornette didn't want him doing both because he said, what if Rob Terry beats you in 2 minutes? But that was TV and this is an Indy show. And even if you are upset, that seems like the thing where you'd say 'hey don't do it again' instead of taking the title off him. But the visa issues, if he's not in the country for at least 90 days that's a major issue. And I didn't think Elgin's title run was particularly successful. His chase was great but a lot of that was because Adam Cole was doing such great heel work.

RoH historically has always been money with the chase and not so much the reigns of their title holders. outside of Bryan Danielson, Morishima, and Adam Cole (make a case for Steen too) the fans have wanted the belt off of whomever held it after a while.
Dunno if they give the title runs past the freshness date of the performers or if the aforementioned holders were just better at carrying the titles. either way its a problem they've had forever seemingly. Curious to see what Briscoe can do with the run since he had it cut short the first time.
