Glad to see Karl Malone at 17 even tough I wouldn't rank him so high. Hope Stockton can get in the top 25!

I'm not sure if 17 it's fair or not but after kg and dirk were selected... I think Karl was a better player than them, not by much, of course.

I'm sad to say that I'm gonna have to withdraw from the project. I just started medical school, so...

Yeah, I don't think I'm going to be doing much of anything for a while. I'm definitely going to read every thread in this project when I have free time (free time...haha).

Keep up the good work!

Am I the only one who feels like participation has been waning for the last 5 threads or so?

Participation has definitely declined since Dr. J got in. I think someone predicted participation dropping off once most of the really popular players were voted in.

Maybe it will pick up at 20. It looks to be a lot more wide open after Moses, as only Nash has a single vote right now at 19

KG, Kobe were the really controversial players. Barkley, Dirk, Malone, DRob will all have their backers but there aren't too many fanatical backers. Nash, Isiah, Stockton, Kidd, and Payton will bring lots of commentary......
I'm so tired of the typical......

Mikan and Walt Frazier over Wade? Seriously?

If Wade falls out of the top 25 this project will lose a lot of my respect.

Shouldn't we really be trying to curtail agenda-driven posts like this?

No agenda at all. If i had an agenda i would've been voting for Wade a lot sooner. #21 is the first thread that i've voted for Wade. I'm just bothered to see the lack of traction.

If anything you have an agenda against Wade being you don't even have him top 30.

Well considering 90% of the PC Board has him in the 22-30 range, coupled with the fact that you're a Mavs fan it sort of gives me reason to wonder..

My track record on Wade as it pertains to the Mavs is pretty well-established. Not hard at all to find, rather than making assumptions....

Just been wondering recently (ever since my rant a few threads ago), how do you guys feel about defining player roles?

Would be nice to have separate "roles" for offense and defense. Maybe we could call them off/def responsibilities? So you could have something like:

off/def
very high/very low
high/low
avg/avg
low/high
very low/very high

for a given unit. To be honest, that much of a breakdown might be overly pedantic, so maybe just high/avg/low would suffice. Without any quantitative research to support this anyway, I wouldn't want to be too specific. I know ElGee did some excellent tracking on his site to produce defensive usage numbers, though off-ball defense is tremendously important, something to consider. I do think it's a great start, and I'm going to look at his research closely.

I guess this isn't really anything novel, since subconsciously we're probably all thinking in this fashion anyway (in labeling guys anchors/afterthoughts in a given season on offense/defense).

But yeah, just thinking aloud here. Thoughts?
Now that's the difference between first and last place.
