Do you think it'll become cheaper with the Note 4 being launched this week? You live in Toronto so you feel my pain when I say I hate the big 3. Trying to get out from Fido's stupid contracts and moving to Wind. Torn between the two phones.

i'm also thinking of cases. The wallet cases look sick, but iunno if they are practical for me.

I was going to get the Note 4 but I can't find any screen tests. I know its a 6 inch phone with 2k res but are the colors accurate? I know the colors on my S4 are off a little and its noticeable. Also I need to know if Touchwiz is still a clunky mess or if the new Touchwiz the S5's have aren't full of lag.

DisplayMate just released the results of their test yesterday. You can probably search "note 4 displaymate" to find out what was said. So far, the best display to date. Same saturated colors, I'm sure. They haven't tested the iPhone 6 though, but their pixel density is low; usually has great color. TouchWhiz will always have slight lag in comparison to other UIs, but we're at the point where it's hardly noticeable since everything is on Snapdragon 800+.

Why is that? I know on some of the older androids especially Galaxy 1 and 2 this was a significant problem. Note 4 shouldn't really have that problem.

That's good because the Snapdragon 600 the was noticeable. Guess i shouldn't wait for the Nexus.

Touchwiz has lag because Samsung instead spends time adding rarely features that look good in ads.

Issue on my S3 at the time. None on my Note 3 but I run Nova launcher and disabled animations and most things I don't use. 800s r better able to handle voice too.

It's very weird. A kid I went to nursery with went to jail for running over a homeless man while on crack.

It's very weird thinking that this kid that I played ball with during lunch time would grow up to be a murderer.

And the guy still hasn't been caught. The police are urging him to turn himself in. They got him on camera. Dude's headed for life in jail and he's only 22.

Hi guys, I am from England in the UK. I love the American sports system, been a huge fan of the nfl for a few years and have been to a few of the games that have been played at Wembley in London. I have recently started to really enjoy the nba and have become a qualified basketball coach in the UK, even though the standard of basketball here isn't as good as in the usa!. Anyway I know this is slightly off topic but I was wondering if you guys could recommend any exciting teams to support in the nba and also In the nfl. I want to become a fan of a team in each league that I will enjoying watching. Appologise in advance for the long thread but any helpful replies will be appreciated. Thanks

49ers have been in London a few times, and they're a good team to follow.

My fav NBA teams to watch are the Spurs, Trailblazers, and Mavs as of now aside from the team I follow. I'll probably be watching the Cavs now.

Anyways, welcome to the board!

Thanks for the reply, the 49ers do look like a good team. My favourite game I watched at Wembley was the Patriots and Buccaneers. I will watch more of the 49ers this season now though.
As for the nba the main thing I know is rules at the minute. Would you say fans in America follow teams or their favourite players?
My idea because I couldn't decide on a team from either league was to watch both leagues and their finals this season and follow whichever team wins the nfl and the same with the nba, this way I can enjoy the games and this will kind of make the decision for me, is that a good idea?.
Thanks for the welcome, this is a really well organised board. Will hope to post more as I learn a bit more about the nba regarding players and teams.
Is there any documentarys or shows that will broaden my knowledge that you know of?
Thanks

I'm a Cowboys fan, but I also enjoy watching the Broncos (offensive firepower and Peyton) and Seahawks (very good defense and power running game). You'll enjoy the Eagles if you like fast paced offense.

IMO, the most exciting NBA teams are the Warriors, Clippers, Spurs and Blazers. I'll also be following the Cavs now that they have LeBron back.

Depends on what kind of documentaries you're looking for. To learn more about current players/teams, I'd rather just watch some games/highlights on YouTube (but I agree with john248 that for example the Blazers are a fun to watch, and they're still a pretty young, up-and-coming team, just had their first winning season with their current core, last year, so I guess you could "grow" as an NBA fan as they grow as a team). Anyway, I think you really just need to watch some games to get a good feel of how every team plays, and you'll find out who do you enjoy watching the most.

As far as shows that you can watch to learn more, Open Court (you can find it on nba.com) is fun to watch. That's a panel of former NBA players who talk about various NBA-related topics for about 45 minutes in each episode (there have been a lot of episodes, 3 seasons already, since 2011). You can easily find a lot of clips on YouTube, maybe even some full episodes (they get taken down pretty quick because of copyright, but you can find some full episodes if you get lucky - for example there's the My Generation episode on YT, divided into 4 parts).

Thanks for all the replies, all very helpful. I will try and watch as many documentarys and game highlights as possible. A lot of people are mentioning the Blazers at the minute so I will have a look at some of their games. Support of the nfl is getting big here in England now, Wembley sells out with every game that comes to England. The nba is not as big but in my opinion it is growing.
A debate that has been going on for a while with nfl fans in the UK is could London have its own franchise, I would like to know your opinion on this? Do you think London could have its own franchise in the nfl and would it work out?.
One other question I have is do you think that the nba would ever look at playing some of the regular season games in the UK?

Well, there already were a few NBA regular season games in London, in the past...For example, Nets vs Raptors on March 5, 2011 (that was an amazing game, went into a triple overtime - you can watch some highlights of that game here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=io3_uB0SNbo )

Knicks vs Pistons game on January 17, 2013, Brooklyn Nets vs Atlanta Hawks on January 16, 2014, are some other games that were played at the O2 Arena.

Also, apparently there will be another game during the 2014-15 season, Knicks vs Bucks:

So I'm reading this really fascinating book right now --- "Thinking Fast and Slow" by Nobel prize winning economist Daniel Kahneman and I'm participating in the Top 100 project. And I'm noticing that we have many of our brightest stat guys and many of our brightest basketball guys(and yes some guys are both) with wildly different opinions and conclusions with access to the exact same information. In this book he includes a very influential paper he wrote with Amos Tversky: "Judgment under Uncertainty: Heuristics and Biases"

Many of you may have read this before, but it was new to me. Caveat is that they published this 40 years ago and the author admits some of his ideas on this have changed slightly, but still I think its an interesting piece about how we think and some of the common errors we make and its caused me to re-visit some of how I analyze players. Thought I'd share it with any of you who might be interested in it.

It looks like you chose the Steelers. For basketball, maybe choose another USA east coast team since they will be closest to your time zone for some late night games. Football, you can pretty much choose any team since you can catch all the morning games during your evening times.

If I were in your spot, I'd probably find a favorite player then root for that team. Once that player retires, you can still continue to root for that team.

My fav basketball docu is HBO's about Magic and Bird. There are some great one's listed by someone else above, but I'd start with Magic and Bird. It'll give you background on 2 of the biggest stars who made the NBA rise in popularity. But it'll also give some insight as to why they were great (ie. making teammates better).

I didn't choose the steelers I didn't know how to change the preferences till recently lol. I do like the way the Eagles play football after watching their first 2 games this season.

I agree that choosing an East Coast team would maybe be better as catching games would be easier with my time zone.
A few of the players I really like are Dwyane wade, Dwight howard, Carmelo Anthony and Kevin durant.
I think my favourite though has to be wade right now, but I don't want to seem like someone who jumps on bandwagons with heat being so good the last few years, maybe that will change with the departure of lebron?.
Which East coast teams are tipped to do well this year?
Coverage of the nba in the UK is poor though, I think in order to see the games of the new season I will have to sign up to nba game pass. Have any of you got nba game pass or know if it is worth the money?
