Way too early? this is why you do it, rather now than later. Again this is why we have the added depth. By "take this much time off", you mean 3 games for Amir, and 2 for JV?? thats 3.6% of the season (3 games), 2.4% for Val. Its negligible.

Edit: Amir was held out for precautionary reasons, and thats good. I trust in McKechnie.

I doubt its because JV doesn't want to play through pain. He is probably just listening to the advice of our medical staff especially since its so early in the season. Also, if there is any chance that these injuries would be a problem long-term, you do not risk it regardless of opponent

Probably in practice, I'm assuming because he wasn't dunking or going hard to the rim in the last few games. He probably aggravated it in the last game even further.
