Re: GDT: Ryan Leaf II vs 49ers
My earliest thought on Thanksgiving is the kind of stadium take over that's going to happen. I'd love to write another sentence on what I think of the 49ers stadium fan base but I'll refrain out of politeness and the fact that I've made my point before.

Redskins aren't one of the worst Ds in the league..
Going into today, they were allowing 25.6 PPG, good for 24th in the league. 29th in takeaways. 20th in third-down conversion rate. It may be a bit strong to say one of the worst in the league, but they are a bad defense. We should have been able to put up points against them, and we could barely move the ball. Certainly couldn't do so on a consistent basis. With a short week ahead, I just can't see us moving the ball on Seattle. Not sure how we win that one, particularly with both NTs out.
For what it is worth they are 9th in total defense though
"Total defense" is an overrated stat. A team with a bad offense can be good in "total defense" because the opponent doesn't have to drive the ball as far to score. I'll take points over yards every time.

It has always been thus. My dad remembers seeing games at Kezar stadium where no-one sat in the lower seats because they were afraid of getting hit by all the beer bottles thrown from the upper decks.

Well I'm going to be there, and I'll do my part to make it tough on the Hawks' offense.

Have to also factor in they were down to the scrap heaps and banged up big time at cb. That defense really should have been torn to shreds. Any decent qb should have put up some big points in this one. Especially as that defense had to be dead tired.

Get ready to shake your head in disbelief in how stupid our fans our like I did during the 2013 Packers playoff game. It's almost embarrassing to be there when the "fans" are chanting and being loud when we're out of offense.

Believe me. I'm pretty aware of the intelligence and enthusiasm of the collective stadium fan base over the years. However you want to describe and quantify it compared to that of some other teams.

Yes we're out of offense now. Fans should not cheer when a team is out of offense.

Every team suffers from having dumb dumb fans but California teams in general suffer more because they price out a lot of the die hard fans.
Also I thought teams should take a page out of Seattle's book in selling the idea that they are part of the game and their actions can influence what happens on the field. I don't think Seattle's fan base is any better or smarter than any other teams but because the Seahawks sold them on the idea of the 12th man their fans are more mindful when it comes to cheering because of all the attention the 12th man receives.
So I put part of the blame on the fans themselves but part of the blame on the team for not making more attempts to correct and influence fan behavior to help the team on the field.

Great at what?
This offense will defeat the defense soon enough

That'll probably depend on how they play. But my wife entered a drawing at work and we'll be watching from one of the corporate boxes, which should be pretty incredible. I wasn't sure when I'd see a game at the new stadium - out of my price range otherwise. She's a keeper, that wife of mine.

Sounds like it. I dread having to play that game on Thanksgiving given how happy of a day it usually is for me. I hated it when they had to go to Baltimore the last time and then to have to wait all day for it to finally end. This year it's just unfortunate they have to go into it so banged up with so much on the line.
I'm becoming more and more reserved to the fact that this season probably isn't going to end well and a big shake up is in store but it would be nice to prevent more of those thoughts for at least one more week.
Win or loss, though, you'll at least get to take away a pretty cool experience in terms of your viewing area regardless of what goes on, on the field. That's something not a lot of fans get to experience under good or bad team circumstances. Hopefully it's a good night.
