I really dont understand what is the big deal about his Bird Rights.

All the Bird Rights give Monroe is the chance of getting that 5th year on his next contract.

But if the Pistons dont want to take back salary or work with his next team on a sign and trade he loses the chance to get the 5th year anyways. After he fcuked us last off season by not signing and taking the QO why in the hell would we agree to a sign and trade when we couldnt reach a deal with a team this offseason?

Have you watched a game this year? You still think Monroe f*cked the Pistons by being hesitant to sign on to THIS?

The price for taking back Monroe for any team is to take on Smith

Take it or leave it

I doubt he's waive his NTC to head to Denver. If he does agree to a trade it will be to a contender.

He definitely made the right call if the beginning of this season is an indication of how the rest of they year will play out.

Naw man he's a selfish moron that only cares about himself and should've taken whatever money he was offered.

Most people don't seem to grasp this...but here it goes.

I do not care what Monroe thinks is good for himself. I am a Pistons fan.... not a Greg Monroe fan.

What he did in the off-season ..did screw the franchise. Greg Monroe can't be traded without his OK. That is a loss of an asset for this franchise.

I completely grasp it. I just don't blame him for making that decision.

Exactly. It's not a hard concept to grasp. Just a stupid one.

What's stupid about it? Is the franchise not going to lose an asset?

Bye, Monroe!

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=pdsxw5v

smith and singler for shumpert and bargnani.

we get two expiring contracts, one of which, shumpert, can be a stop-gap 3&D starter for us at SF until we can find a real SF, hopefully in next year's draft. bargnani can rot on the bench or possibly play spot minutes next to dre, but that's it. he'd really only be useful for his expiring deal. hell, i'd even buy him out and give some d-leaguer a shot.

new york and the zen master can take their shot on trying to utilize smith, but honestly, i feel like he'd be a pretty good fit there if such a thing exists. he'd play with two sharpshooters in the backcourt in hardaway jr. and calderon, as well as a stud #1 scoring option in melo. he really wouldn't have to exert himself so much offensively and could focus on playing to his strengths. that sounds silly typing that, but weirder things have happened.

does new york hit the panic button soon and make this deal? god i hope so.

I don't think Phil is stupid enough to take that deal. Shump has been a pretty good glue guy for them so far and Andrea has his moments as a stretchish 4.

I'd do it though...

Also despite how **** his years on the Pistons have been, it's not like SVG did anything to wrong him

He could have at least worked with him somewhat.

But it doesnt matter anyways bc some team that misses out on Gasol is gonna throw big money at Monroe just like Charlotte did last offseason to Hayward and Stephenson

Lmao okay. He screwed the franchise ... by looking out for himself. WHAT A ****.
You're a Pistons fan ...Didn't Dumars screw him? multiple times? In multiple ways?
Or are you just one of the fans where it doesn't matter what happens to the players, they should just be **** greatful? That's how you're coming across to me.
This is a business, both ways. It sucks we might lose an asset.. but this isn't the first time in NBA history a team has lost an asset.. there have been many players who have moved on for some reason. Lebron left the **** Cavs. You want to burn Monroe's jersey? knock yourself out. I'll stay relaxed.. maybe he'll resign, if he doesn't, idgaf.. we'll find a way to rebound.

What's with the melodrama?

If that's what I am coming across to you as, then may be you need to stop trying to figure people out. Looks like you are very bad at it.

I said I do not care what Monroe thinks is good for himself. All I care about is the Pistons. If he wants to leave, then good bye! Pretty sure the team can "win" the #8 / #9 lotto position with or without Monroe. :D

Only Monroe fans are going to miss Monroe.

EDIT: All I have is a Ben Wallace jersey. Not sure why anyone would buy a Greg Monroe jersey. Has he achieved anything of note for the Pistons yet?

2nd EDIT: Ignore all of the post if yours was meant as sarcasm. :)
