Weren't they supposed to hint at the new colour scheme this season? Still waiting on that, hell I just don't want it to be worse than the ones we have right now. It would've been sick if they let the fans vote on a colour scheme and different jersey designs.

I don't have a problem with us keeping red, but I am just not a fan of the shade of red they have used. I'd like us to move towards a crimson, or a red with more brown in it to mute the overall effect. Right now we have a bright red, which is hard on the eyes and has negative connections with being associated with a stop sign. It is almost a relief to watch our team play in purple than to have to watch us in those hideous red jerseys.

I like the idea of brown because it is so different and if done right, I think it would be a great way to redefine the Raptors. I have always loved the Padres brown and yellow jerseys, which could easily be using more of a golden hue and offset with red.

It would fit into a retro style and feel more working class, which just fits Toronto. Plus, no one has the colour scheme in the NBA, which helps to set us apart, which is important in the whole "we the north" marketing strategy.

Successful teams, as others have pointed out, do not fuss with this uniform stuff (See New York Yankees, Montreal Canadiens, and sure, English soccer teams sucker their fans by switching from open collar, to V-Collar to crew collar etc, but but Liverpool is red and Chelsea is blue and they will be forever.) To now be a hypocrite, any new design:
1, should loose any basketball references- no ball, no dribbling mascot;
2, Toronto = blue;
3. be so un-hip and un-cool that it is super off the charts cool;
4. A white jersey with a blue "R" at home. Blue jersey with a white "T" on the road.
5, Ask not 'what do we wrongly perceive the young kids want' but ask instead, "If we were a dignified winning franchise that players sought out to play for, what kind of logo and color scheme would we use?"

I also like our current stuff. I'd have no problems keeping the red as our colour.

I have no idea how an NBA fan can find this aesthetically appealing... it looks like a high school jersey for a team with low funds.

Pretty much the best thing you can say about our current uniforms is that they are inoffensive. They aren't ugly, but there is nothing about them that really stands out as interesting or unique.

As for what I hope to see out of the rebrand, my personal preference would be for something completely new. Perhaps a nod to the past with some purple, but otherwise, with 20 years in the books as a franchise, I feel like the time is right for a fairly dramatic shift.

Based on what I have seen from Sid Lee, they are big fans of "flat design".

http://www.creativebloq.com/graphic-des ... gn-3132112

Flat design is a minimalistic design approach that emphasizes usability. It features clean, open space, crisp edges, bright colours and two-dimensional/flat illustrations.

Probably the best example of flat design in the NBA today is the Golden State Warriors

Image

The one thing to remember is that flat does not mean minimalist. A lot of teams have embraced minimalist designs - Brooklyn is probably the best example there. What separates minimalism from flat design is that flat design will incorporate graphics and other touches, whereas minimalist designs do not.

So, for example, I can pretty much guarantee that the new Raptors uniform won't have anything like the chevrons on the current uni. I also suspect they will get rid of the outline on the lettering in favor of a single color for the text.

What I am most curious about is to see how they bring some sense of identity to the uniform.

Having said all that, IMHO the biggest clue we have received as far as a direction is this:

Maybe they go without the pinstripes and go with some version of the claw logo. I'm pretty sure I'll hate whatever they come up with for a while and then it will grow on me but I do prefer purple to red.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

As long as they keep winning I don't care, the chevron on the side of the current jerseys tho have to go, those are atrocious

Just throwing this out there,

but what about like a Royal Blue (leafs, jays) with a Red infusion?
More so like the Jays than the leafs.

Or... just straight up Purp please.

I think purple red white and black and maybe some grey could be a nice unique colour scheme :D .

I would love our old schoold barney unis, but modernized.

Straight pin stripe lines. No big logo on the front, maybe the claw on the upper chest area. and change the raptors font in the front

Music to my ears. The Golden State uni is hands down the best in the NBA BECAUSE of its incorporation of graphics and flat design. A jersey with our new logo in the centre while "Toronto" at the top and "Raptors" at the bottom would be gorgeous. The numbers at the top right as an ode to our original jerseys would be a great touch. Even it it said Toronto... had the claw logo in the middle and Raptors at the bottom it would be miles beyond what we have now.

So?

Build a winning tradition with the jerseys we have and no one will be complaining in a few years.

..you could say that about any jerseys though.
The Mavs went on a tear in their previous jerseys w/ Nash & Dirk & they changed within 2 years & haven't looked back since.
That's what I see the Raptors doing right into next year. They killed it in the purple throwbacks, and the camo jerseys. The team will speak for itself, might as well change away from this bland-ness before it's too late.

Change please. It was Colangelo that dropped the purple. What better way to move from that era.
In this main red/black/white Raptor brand the first things that come to mind are the botched sea of red against the red-wearing New Jersey Nets, the Hedo Turkoglu signing, the Rudy trade, and overall the overdo-ing of trying to be "Team Canada" by going with the whole just-red thing while hiring Jay Triano as head coach.
Guys like Amir already expressed how much they loved wearing the purple, guys like KD have expressed watching & following the Purple & red VC-era Raptors, and all of our fondest memories (beating MJ's 72-10 Bulls, our only playoff series win, VC 2000 dunk contest) were in purple & red.
