Some Interesting Early Season Stats.

Post#1 » by Chuck Newhouse » Fri Nov 28, 2014 3:33 am

Here are some oddities and anomalies that I noticed while stat mining earlier.

Alex Len is 1 of only 9 people shooting over .900 from the line with over 20 attempts.

Brandon Wright is still shooting .772 from the field in over 90 attempts.

Jordan Hill leads the league in offensive rebounds.

The only player in the top 23 in 3's attempted shooting under .300...Kobe Bryant and he is 9th.

Thabo Sefolosha is the only player with more than 20 3's attempted that is shooting .100 or less.

Josh Smith Shooting .433% from the line. Only player with more than 35 attempts under .450.

Rajon Rondo shooting .346 from the line. WOW!

JaVale McGee has played 150 minutes without an assist, Second highest only has 64 minutes.

Tim Hardaway has 279 minutes without a steal second most minutes played without one is just 129.

Wesley Johnson has only 4 turnovers in 485 mins, Second highest with 5 or less has only played 211 mins.

The only player with less than 7 rebs this season that has played 88+ mins. is Shannon Brown. He has 1.

Dewayne Dedmon Has played 5 minutes more than Shannon Brown and has 40x the rebounds.

Mike Miller has played 129 minutes without attempting a FT. Only 2 others have played over 61 minutes without one.

Marvin Williams has played 389 mins with only 2 free throws. Nobody else has more than 130 mins with 2 or less.

109 players have played 383 mins or more. Only 1 has less that 100 points Jason Thompson with 60.

Ronnie Price is the only player shooting under .300 with over 179 mins played he has 291 mins.

Kyle Korver is 38-58 from 3 (.558) but only 14 of 37 (.348) from 2.

Marreese Speights is averaging 27.6 PP36 in 194 minutes played the league high with over 45 minutes played.

Troy Daniels has attempted 26 3's in 58 mins played and only hits at .268% Sit the **** down Troy.

I can't decide what is the most shocking stat. I say it's either Wesley Johnson (Impressive) or Marvin Williams (Unbelievable).

Jordan Hill is better at Manimaling than the Manimal. He just doesn't have a fancy nickname yet.

Tony Parker being the 3-points FG leader (by far!) is quite mindblowing.

He only has 23 attempts though in 451 minutes though . That is actually 3 less than Troy Daniels in only 58 minutes. :jawdrop:

Strange since the rest of the spurs are shooting uncharacteristically bad from 3.

Thompson is scrapping on D. We don't really need him to score in Sacramento, this has been the best he has ever been for us in years.

But I knew it was bad, but not as bad as you pointed out.

He should be getting to the line more, getting a put back or two, and dunk or two a game. Strange season in Sacramento.

If you look closely, you can see that two are actually caused by one player

You forgot the biggest stat anomaly of all- Harden leading defensive win shares.
Yes, he did improve his Defense this year, but to be leading a defensive category? Never crossed my mind for a second

He's been great this year on defense! The Rockets have improved exponentially in that area. Sure, the addition of Ariza helps but the improvement of Harden on defense has been nothing short of mind blowing.

Parker is a pretty good shooter and he picks his 3 pointers well. If he was launching them at the rate other guys are he would probably shoot in the 33%-38% me thinks.

Hilarious. I was going to joke in the rebound record thread that Hill had a chance to set offensive rebound records.

One guess as to why.

15 games into the season and we all know that is an anomaly considering the easy schedule that Houston has had and that Harden will never be mistaken for a defender.

Defensive Box Plus/Minus would be more accurate.
* Since 1985, Jeremy Lin became one of 15 players to have scored at least 20 points, seven assists and a steal for six games in a row, including 136 points in 5 starts beating out Iverson, Jordan and O'Neal :D

As a Celtics Fan Rondo shooting only .346 from the line is absolutely mind-blowing.
That's terrible for a starting PG and a key player who is often seen as a possible key piece for a Championship run.

Jordan Hill leading the league in offensive rebounds and Kobe shooting under .300 is simply funny  I think, we can call it correlation.

Defensive stats are garbage on an individual level.

See: Carlos Boozer.

I was going to analyse some advanced stats but I just got tired after a while. Maybe I'll add to the list later.
