And look at the hoop you're jumping through to prove some type of validity to their record. They face the Cavs when they were playing like total chit. And Milwaukee and Phoenix will be trying to hang on for dear life to make the playoffs...but the Bucks are in the east so they may squeeze through. But I know one damn thing you guys won't beat the Cavs the rest of this season once they figure things out.mademan wrote:DEEP3CL wrote:You're schedule outside of 5 tough games have been like a walk in the donut shop. Anyway, good luck tonight.
Beat the Bulls and some west teams then maybe I'll relent, until then they should be licking off all that glaze from all the donuts they've beaten.
LOL. The mental gymnastics you're jumping through to throw that 2-3 number out your arse.
They beat CLE..."doesn't matter, CLE's finding themselves"
They beat MIL..."doesnt matter, they're finding themselves"
They lose to MIA..."well lookie here, they lose to a good team....TYPICAL"
Against playoff caliber teams (CLE/CHI/MIL/PHX/ATL/WAS/DAL/MEM/MIA), the Raps are 6-3

You Rap fans can talk all the trash you want about me on your board.....but watch how you tread here. THIS AIN'T YOUR BOARD. LeafsRule67 telling you guys that I'm salty....naw bruh I speak truth and facts. Deal with it, but oh wait some can't deal with the real when it's presented to them.
Otherwise you guys wouldn't lurk our board then go back and report what I'm saying here. But the truth stings like acid otherwise you'd just laugh it off or not quote it at all if it didn't bother or strike a nerve.
Raptors record is full of cream puff wins.

I gotta second that Raps fans. Just cause you recognize me from that board too doesn't mean anything. This thread is on this board for fans of the Lakeshow, not as some symptom of Raptor fever.
Keep it clean, no hitting below the belt, and stick to the Raptors board if you're here to peacock.

The Raptors will win the East (seeding), let alone be atop at new years. They've been winning at a ridiculous rate since the Rudy Gay trade last year.
I'll sig bet you for new years though.

I don't mine the trash talk, but look at that ms25 post about our fans. That stuff isn't needed and furthermore it's the farthest thing from the truth. Who's spoiled here ? Basically saying dumb stuff like that is just ignorant. Re: Lakers (3-13) vs Raptors (13-3). Sunday, at Staples
I don't understand why there's so much discrediting of the Raptors record so far.
Yes, they play in the East, yes, they've had a home heavy schedule and yes, they've gotten lucky with teams like OKC having injuries or Memphis having a lot guys sick.
At the end of the day, you can't control what's happening with other teams or what the schedule is. You just play the games in front of you. Going 13-3 is nothing to slouch at no matter what the opponents are or the schedule.
Nobody in the Raptors fanbase thinks their winning a title this year or considered one of the top contenders, that doesn't mean their record isn't something surprising and something that they should get some credit for.
Anyways, since the Lakers are my second fave team, this is gonna be a tough year on that side. Good luck the rest of the way, just not against us.

Re: Lakers (3-13) vs Raptors (13-3). Sunday, at Staples
It's pretty obvious out of all the game threads made this year, the one that has the most trolls posting from the other teams board is the Raptors game. One of the reasons is because their board is pretty big and active but as someone who has been here for over 10 years and read and posted quite a bit over their side, there is a much larger reason.
There is a BIG inferiority complex by Raptor fans. Not all of course, but just checking these posts in this very thread you can tell how insecure they are. All you have to go back in last year's playoffs. The fans and even the president of the team were complaining about the refs before the series started. There is a big need to be accepted by the American media and any mention or lack thereof is noticed. I've seen threads made "Hey! Charles Barkley mentioned us on TNT!", rigging online polls (there was a Lakers/Wizards game and the lakers home broadcast had a poll for who was the best young player coming out of USC, among the selections were Nick Young, OJ Mayo who were in the league longer and more established and Demar Derozan who was second year player at that point, or may have been a rookie. And much to the announcers surprise and confusion, Demar won that poll.)
You have a team who wouldn't have made the playoffs last year in the West with their record be much more obnoxious this season. Expect plenty of "Raps in 4" posts and every call made against them, which happens to every team in the league get twisted into some anti-Toronto/Canada conspiracy due to their deep rooted insecure/inferiority complex.

Re: Lakers (3-13) vs Raptors (13-3). Sunday, at Staples
It's not discrediting, it's just what I see and know of the NBA. I don't feel the Raptors are an elite team and their wins were a byproduct of who've they've face and what time they caught them. And to set the record straight, it's nothing you can do to control that. You have to play the schedule I get that, but at the same time just like in college you can get fat off playing nobody's.whysoserious wrote:I don't understand why there's so much discrediting of the Raptors record so far.

But what I'm seeing from most of your fanbase, is they think the Raptors are superior to some of those teams when fact is you've caught breaks.....just admit to it and your knowledge of ball will be more believable to me.
Like the Raptor fan I challenged about them being at the top of the east by New Years, all he could come with is they will win the east seeding. C'mon are you kidding me ? Did he even look at their schedule for December ? Must less take into account that DeRozan will be out for 4-6 weeks ? By his statement it tells me he considered none of that. They're gonna be on the west coast a lot, that alone can knock them right out the number 1 spot they hold now.
I get a lot of respect from other boards here on RGM other than just my own for what I know about ball. I'm knowledgeable on the history of the game, players, coaches and other aspects of the game. I just don't spew nothing out just to be "salty" like one guy said. I call it like I see it, even with my own team. And I've stated on several nights here that we're in the dumps and most of us here know that and quite frankly accept it.

When you post a post like your original one that basically discredited everyone of their wins based on opponent, said on one hand the Hawks first game was about Horford not being himself, then the second time it was about them suddenly becoming a treadmill, when you discount that they completely dismantled Washington by 20 points it seems like discrediting.
I'm not sure what the schedule ahead will turn out like. It's going to be tough. But the Raptors have not lost more than 2 in a row in over a year, they have played well out West since Rudy was traded and this team is deeper than last year. DD being out will hurt, of course it will. The schedule gets tougher and has been somewhat easy in the first 6 weeks of the season.
But going 13-3 is still not easy. Nobody looks at the Raptors as elite, not yet anyways. But if the Cavs are still finding themselves, if the Bulls continue to have these injuries then it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility the Raps may still be in first come New Years (though I expect them to fall back a little).
Either way, you have some valid points about the schedule and the teams they faced, but your original post going game by game came off as a complete discredit of everything the Raps did. This team won 65% of their games from December of last year (which includes trips west) and is on a great run this year, that is nothing to just say their record is completely inflated. They've had some things break in their favour, no doubt but they are also a good team playing good ball for almost an entire season now.

Re: Lakers (3-13) vs Raptors (13-3). Sunday, at Staples
PS, I don't want to get in to a huge debate or back and forth. I usually go to other teams boards to read what's going on with the other teams when we play them. And the Lakers are my second fave team so I visit this board a bit but don't post much on other teams boards to avoid these kinds of things.
I just took your original post as taking credit away for every win and the quality wins not being recognized enough.
Good luck the rest of way, just not tonight and when you come to Toronto.

Who do you think will be top 3 teams in the East by January 1st? and who will be the top 3 at the end of the season in your opinion. I agree that Raptors had top 5 easiest schedule so far, I had them going 13-7 in their first 20 games. They did a better job with beating the teams they were suppose to and even won vs some tougher teams.
I think Raptors are worse than a lot of the fans think, and they are better than you think, probably somewhere in the middle. You mentioned they won vs OKC and MEM, OKC didn't have KD and Westbrook, MEM was missing 5 guys with a stomach flue, but they still had their big 3.
Now the loss vs Miami and Bulls both could have been wins, firstly the Heat had Wade playing, they were at home, and Raptors missed 15 free throws, which cost them the game and only lost by 5pts.
The bulls had their team as healthy has they will ever be, and Gasol played like a super star (12-19fg) and they won by 7pts and Raptors had one of their worst games of the season.
Anyways, their schedule has been easy, but they have had some good wins vs quality teams, and fyi, Raptors have the 2nd monst wins, could be 3rd now, since January 1st 2014, behind the Spurs. You can't say their schedule has been easy for that length of a period. They are just a much better team since the Rudy Gay trade, and they have gotten better during the summer with the addition of James Johnson and Lou Williams.

Re: Lakers (3-13) vs Raptors (13-3). Sunday, at Staples
Ok let's set the record straight on the Hawks statements. For one everyone knows the team is in flux and it shows in their play nightly. One night they look like they've found a formula, then the next night it looks as if they've taken 5 steps back. The Hawks have a litany of issues plaguing them and it's stunted their growth. The Hawks aren't a contender and they could miss the playoffs altogether even in a weak east. In essence I wasn't wrong on them....they're a treadmill team trying to find themselves no matter how you look at it. And it's good the Raptors caught them twice, caught the Magic twice....4 win or roughly 25% of their 13 wins against those weak teams. And they caught the Cavs during their week of disarray....yet it seems like that can't be understood. I'm not saying a team isn't suppose to take advantage of those things, but when the tables turn and those teams get better and figure things out the Raptors aren't good enough to beat a team like Cleveland when it's clicking or get their business straight. That's fact....not discrediting.whysoserious wrote:DEEP3CL wrote:It's not discrediting, it's just what I see and know of the NBA. I don't feel the Raptors are an elite team and their wins were a byproduct of who've they've face and what time they caught them. And to set the record straight, it's nothing you can do to control that. You have to play the schedule I get that, but at the same time just like in college you can get fat off playing nobody's.
But what I'm seeing from most of you fanbase is they think the Raptors are superior to some of those teams when fact is you caught breaks.....just admit to it and your knowledge of ball will be more believable to me.
Overall the Raptors have blown a few team out, but they haven't look ultra dominate in even the games they've barely won. I'm not saying the things I am about them without having seen them play.
