Can we revisit this Abbot article since it came out that Paul George essentially called Espn's summer report that he wanted no part of Kobe bullcrap?

Why did you have to wait for Paul George to say this to bring it up back.

You could have just brought up all of the all-star/superstar players that have signed with the lakers the past two seasons.

The Boozecruise didn't sign with LA, they high bid him on the amnesty waiver.

1 that doesn't exclude the fact that the author made false claims in the article. I.E. He wouldn't sign with the Lakers if Kobe was there. That is not true. The Lakers also only had cap space for the first time this past season, not the last 2.

Hard to say conclusively that the "claim" was false or not.
George "might have" said that but is denying it now.

Unless you can show me some sort of trend (however small) of Abbot using sources and those sources calling him out then I wouldn't be overly quick to call him a liar or a fabricator.

Well considering George was never UFA, that tells you enough right there.

Only one of the biggest Kobe haters on the board defending the article. Everyone who has been asked about it to a person has denied it. At this point there is no reason to take it seriously.

PG never even got to free agency though. It's almost near impossible that he ever said that as he'd have no reason to whatsoever.

Abbott is one of the many "journalists" out there now who hide behind the "league sources tell me" bullcrap and he deserves to be called out on it. I get that you can't let people know your sources because that's what makes you "special" and essentially qualified to write about the NBA, but it's pretty clear when writers have an agenda and use that or have nothing to report on (Broussard saying the same thing for months). Abbott very clearly had an agenda with this article and basically all of it has either proven to be blatantly false or it's highly unlikely that it's true.

The article is pure speculation based on Dwight Howard leaving and Melo staying in NY. They both considered LA and had their reasons to make the decisions they made.

These articles occur all the time in every sport. It's that simple

Loving this. I've been making the same argument for weeks, only to be scoffed at by Laker fans. Lakers will strike out again next year, but by the time Kobe leaves, the Lakers will have some nice young pieces, and then they will have their pick of FAs. Lakers will be back in a big way, but their fans will suffer until Kobe leaves.

So do you expect players to come out and say that they don't actually want to play with Kobe?
Who would say something so stupid?
The point is that no one has signed with them and one's that did go there left because Kobe is such a douche.
Forget the Lakers' FO - they obviously have utmost respect for Kobe and want the $$$$ he creates.
The rest of us fans... at least myself... can't wait for this washed up chucker to retire.

No way. You do know that they fired Mike 'Antoni and hired Byron Scott right? Byron Scott is an elite head coach with multiple finals appearances, and Laker legend. He and Kobe have way too much pride in the purple and gold to let the team slack off on D all year like "Antoni let them last year.

Lakers won 27 games last year with no Kobe and 'Antoni coaching the team. Now they get a healthy and hungry Mamba back, and a huge upgrade at coach, plus an updated supporting cast, and they suddenly the 2nd worst team at best?

Wizards won 19 games in 2001, then old MJ joined the team and increased their win total to 35, a 16 win increase. Then after MJ retired, they saw a 10 win swing in the other direction.

Kobe is currently better than MJ was at that stage of his career and just on sheer will power alone he will lead them to at least 10 more wins, with 15 more likely which would give the Lakers a 42-40 record this year.

Lakers will tank to keep their pick. They won't come anywhere close to sniffing 40+ wins.

It is only speculation that Dwight left because "Kobe is such a douche." He has stated over and over that Kobe is not the reason he left. You can speculate that he is hiding his true feelings all you want, but at this point there is nothing at all backing it up aside that he left.

Yea, except none of this is true. Who left because Kobe is a douche? Who didn't sign because of Kobe? It's a bunch of crap people made up and continue to make up about the guy with nothing other "I don't like him" to support their claims.

I for one like the deal Kobe signed...

I think it makes sense for all parties involved. Except for the Lakers....

And by parties i mean every other team in the nba.....Maybe except for the few teams trying to out tank them.

Right, people just made it up that Dwight didn't want to play in L.A. That's why he left the first chance he got, but I'm sure it's all a coincidence. Same with L.A. striking out in FA, despite being the #1 team players dream of playing for. Yep, it's probably just all coincidence.
