I said you guys were drunk for thinking well get a top 3 pick but now i realize the truth! A top 3 pick is definitely attainable.

This draft is so deep with big men im starting to lean towards mudiay and then maybe acquiring a late 1st or early second pick maybe we can steal a decent big man. I havent been watching any college games but i did see a little bit of mudiay i like him.

Tall, white, shoots threes. Bargs. Sure. Aside from that, nothing in common.

Also, weak draft...? What?

Hard to say, Okafor gets a lot more playing time (about 9 minutes more a game) and is his teams go to guy. So Okafor's featured a lot and gets to pretty much do his thing whenever he wants. Towns is on a deeper team and plays only about 18 minutes a game (to Okafors 27) and seems to be used more as a defensive anchor, free roaming type and doesn't really have too much of the offense run through him.

For comparisons sake...

Okafor is averaging 27.4mpg, 17.1ppg, 7.6rpg, 1.5bpg, 64% from the field and 52% from the line.
Towns is averaging 18.6,mpg, 8ppg, 7.43rpg, 3.0bpg, 51% from the field and 60% from the line.

Towns factoring in per minute, actually gets to the line much more than Okafor (who one would think is constantly getting hacked) believe it or not which is an indication that teams are at least having a hard time dealing with Towns as they are with Okafor. Towns averages nearly 1 FT (2.9fta) for every 2 FG attempts (6fga) which is pretty impressive to say the least. Okafor averages 3ft and 12fga per game. To me, FTA to FGA is an solid indicator of a players potency relative to his surroundings.

It's still real early though. It will be interesting to see how Okafor progresses and how Towns does with more minutes, which most folks expect will eventually happen as Towns begins to get comfortable and more involved in the KU offense. Okafor is definitely further along physically, he's NBA ready now physically. Towns? He's really more of an interesting follow as it'll be interesting to see him as he fills out and improves from a conditioning standpoint. If he can add some muscle and get more toned, Towns could be a monster. It's part of why most folks believe Towns has the higher upside.

Both guys are generally considered to be real smart guys (Towns I think was top of his class in HS?) with high BB IQ's and both are noted as terrific passing bigs so there's nothing not to like from that standpoint.

I will go back to my "if I guy can't play significant minutes in a team in his college career, I don't care how loaded that team is then he is marvin williams 2.0".

Do not want Towns.

Towns just had a nasty fall. Could have really gotten injured. Seems to be ok tho. Fell right on his back and left arm almost got caught under him.

Towns reminds me a bit of Joakim Noah. Skilled passer, athletic, runs the floor well, but not extremely explosive.

I like what I see though. Kid is 18 years old. He would fit with our offense and start right away.

He played for the Dominican Republic, guess who coached them? Towns was going to any school that Calipari was coaching. The thing no one saw coming was everyone coming back to block his minutes.

Ugly game thus far, especially for those who only watched to see Kentucky/Turner.

This. Same skillset. Just not as intense. Cuz Towns is more laid back. But very similar skillset. Almost dead on. Just needs to work on his body and get wiry strong.

The thing is he's going to have to still be developed once he gets to the league. He's never going to get the amount of 1 on 1 attention he needs to progress his game. And since these kids are only in school for one year nowadays he's going to get even less for the kind of prospect he is. There are going to be more question marks about Towns going into the draft than there are about Okafor and there already are a few.

Towns will go into the NBA still a project whereas the other kid you know exactly what you're getting and speaking from our perspective we need more sure things than we need projects.

If the draft were today, that is why I would be so torn on who to take, on one hand getting an NBA ready big that is ready to contribute to wins sounds great, but at the same time I am tired of these one sided big men that we keep getting like Amare and Curry for instance. It would be nice to have a two way big man for once, that's something that we pretty much haven't had in a while, and that's largely because they are very difficult to acquire, so that's why I like Towns alot. Tough choice.
