ATL & DET: Monroe gets his wish

Post#1 » by Hawk Eye » Wed Dec 17, 2014 6:56 am

Now that Moneoe has voiced his opinions about DET, I feel this is the perfect opportunity for ATL to swoop in. Monroe puts up better effecient rebounding stats than anyone on the Hawks roster. With the addition of Monroe as our 3rd cog big I think it pushes Atlanta into the top tier in the east along with Cleveland, Chicago, and Toronto. I highly doubt Detroit will get a 1st for him so here's where I'm at..

Payne (15th overall pick this year)

FOR

Monroe

This doesn't effect the Hawks chemistry at all because Payne has yet to crack the rotation (despite his great play in D-League). Detroit gets a stretch big prospect who would also help with floor spacing whenever he's on the court. Atlanta upgrades their big rotation to Horford/Millsap/Monroe.

We can give Monroe a winning environment, surround him with shooters to make him look even better so to speak, and we can can get him into the playoffs.

Ship Payne to a third team for a pick or wing. I don't see Detroit trading out of a front court log jam to trade into another one.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

Good trade. Payne would be a good fit next to Drummond.

Payne hasn't showed anything since being drafted.... While I don't expect back equal value for monroe, there would be better offers than this.

No deal thanks

A. We're not trading Payne.
B. Monroe isn't waiving his bird rights so NO one is trading for him.

Monroe is an upgrade on Payne. And Monroe will waive his NTC to go anywhere, he has already intimated as much and he is done with DET. Even if he stays there the rest of the year and DET keeps his Bird rights, he won't re-sign there. IMHO.

Monroe actually refuted that yesterday. I don't think he is waiving his NTC. The best the Pistons can do is participate in a sign-trade this summer.

Completely missed that. Huh. Well, then, DET is apparently stuck with him.
