Wow, Dirk with the lazy pass.
Mavs made a little run then shot themselves in the foot.

smh.

They're giving him wide open shots, he has to keep taking those. The more he shoots (including in practice) the more he'll get comfortable. That will take time though. The problem is that no one else is hitting their shots. Part of it is that they need to get use to playing with Rondo. He's getting the ball to them when they don't expect it, they need to expect the ball at any time. It's clear they are having some growing pains. It will be after the All Star break before they really get use to playing together. They are sorely missing another big off the bench.

There is a reason why the poorest shooter doesn't take all the shots.

One possession at a time.

Make it a single digit lead coming into the 4th.

Hey I'm Rondo... Let me not pass the ball to anybody and shoot a jumpshot even though I can't shoot!

I get the feeling that RC has encouraged Rondo to shoot in practice.
Has he been this willing to shoot in Boston? I don't watch many Boston games but Rondo has 13 FGA ... the most on the team.

No focus at all, sloppy execution and all we do is shoot jumpers. You wouldn't beat the Sixers like that...

Rondo shooting is not the problem. He needs it so he can get used to it.

Our shooters are not shooting the ball well. THAT IS THE PROBLEM.

This is the sloppiest I have ever seen this team play.
If they're going to play this poorly RC might as well throw the bench in and just look to Phoenix tomorrow.

I'm not going to blame this on losing Wright. He was useful, yes, but he's not the reason for this. The Rondo chemistry question shouldn't be that big either - it's not like Jameer was that good although he did know better than to not take 13 shots.

We're allowing way too many points in the paint and everyone is sloppy for some reason. Can't let it go to your head.

Devin Harris has the same number of points as Rondo and only on 5 shots. That is a difference of 8 shots. If Dallas converted only half of those 8 shots, they would have 73 least.

Well the second unit is getting some buckets and playing defense. Very nice to see in this game.

Dirk has done fine with the exception of a few games where he shots very poorly (like the Spurs game).

The Mavs have been thoroughly outplayed tonight but we shouldn't get all panicky over the trade yet.
I do have a problem with Rondo taking all those shots though.

Rondo is a smart basketball player - I'm leaning towards thinking that Carlisle gave him the green light to shoot if he's open. I remember Marion was shooting 3's for some reason the last year he was here (and RC was encouraging him) and he hadn't been shooting 3's since he was in Phoenix.

We need more time to see if the Rondo/Ellis backcourt will work (since people have been saying they're both poor outside shooters) but the Mavs might have to go Rondo/Harris and Monta/Barea or some other combination.

Marion was a better 3 point shooter either way. All because he wasn't shooting them, doesn't mean be couldn't

Well if you're given the space, take the shot. However, you should be practicing those shots as well. I agree, Rondo's a smart player. This game just has all our starting five playing poorly.
