Anyone who thinks we can snag Karl in the middle of the year is dreaming.

I guess i am dreaming, but i think they would know they aren't playing for this season. This would be a throw-away season, so they can implement what they can or simply STOP THE BLEEDING of bad habits left from the other coach and lay a foundation to end the season on a high note and go into a new one with a full training camp (and summer league) and the confidence of the players. Maybe coaches don't do that *shrug*. What will losing over and over for another 40 or so games do though?

It is an interesting thought though that maybe the coaching candidate we want to go after is not currently available, or maybe we have touched the pulse of the ones who are and they have no interest. Smh i don't see the value of continuing this way.

As much as Vaughn sucks, the Knicks weren't coached any better tonight, but their players outplayed our players. The coaching is bad, but the players are also playing badly.

He may be a bad X's and O's coach but his players (and most of the NBA circle) respect him. Not sure the same can be said for JV right now.

Good point.

I don't mind an occasional poor shooting night from Oladipo so long as he keeps drawing those delicious free throws.

I hope Elfrid is okay. He is our only player who has played all our games so far. He needs every minute of game experience he can get.

Blatt could be available. Possibly Thibs. Maybe Hollins and Spo too?? If we wanted another assistant coach to become HC, IIRC Fizzdale on the heat is solid. D'antoni is out there too

I know a lot of those names are unlikely but my point stands.. THere are solid guys out there

Talking about assistants.. Our next head coach needs to bring in DA as an assistant

This is the guy i want, my gut tells me he would be pretty good here. Definitely can't go wrong with Karl or Malone either......oh hey....Karl Malone....

I REALLY like Mark Jackson, some of his timeout pep talks gave me chills last season, the guy can motivate. BUT that is all he is, he is a cheerleader, i would only welcome him with a elite assistant who can run an offense, and we all know he has had problems with assistants. I think he doesnt like outsiders on his staff for fear of being exposed/ridiculed.

Mark is who I want. He has fire and passion. Plus he turned GS around.

The best you can hope for is James Borrego. That's what happens 99.9% of the time.

No thanks to Mark Jackson unless he's okay with top-shelf assistants... he was fired for not wanting to do that at GS so....

I think Henny would prefer to remain in the witness-protection program and do nothing, but it's getting to the point where his hand is about to be forced. The team is playing so badly that the fans are booing at home games, and national columnists are ridiculing our coaching. Hennigan is being put in a position where inaction would be construed as an endorsement, and he can't continue down that path.

I dont really k now much about mark jackson other than that he coached a young team into contention and improved every year. Ive heard his offense is not creative but i have a hard time believing he could be worse than vaughn. I dont think our talent is great but i think we can be better than this.

Good point.

A reporter who covers the NBA told his cousin, a magic fan on this board, off the record that " the players don't really respect Jacque at all" and that there were many stories to tell.

Then he needs to be an assistant. I like that he is a leader of men but he is very extra with it too. The stories i heard of him having bible study and all were a bit much. I don't know if he had that as a mandatory thing but he needs to separate that from the game and coach these guys on basketball and only that. If they admire him in other ways and want that type of advice then they can seek him out. I like him but idk if i want all of his baggage and he still isn't a proven championship level coach.

At some point we got to start cashing in right? We are the die hard fans but really the casuals are the guys that the magic can't afford for them to lose interest. If they really want to see progress in the rebuild then getting a taste of the playoffs would be great for the young guys since it's a bigger stage and the experience would be invaluable. Bonus if we play well we could garner some new interest as an up and coming team, tanking seems like an easy way to get talent but do you want to get to a point where you're there every year? It'll be like we're the Sacramento Kings of the east in the sense that they've pretty much been in the lottery for like 9 years straight.

Hey we're still in a rebuild but this year is supposed to be the year we see some progress, we've seen some from some players namely Vuc, Dipo and Harris. We've seen some arguably regress, Uncle Drew, Harkless and Kyle but have we seen any progress from our coach? He's been pretty much the same having the same problems with rotations and managing minutes years later, Hennigan has to make this decision for me to continue to have faith in this rebuild.

My guess if keep acquiring young players like this we will eventually trade most of them for some real stars looking to leave their team.

he definitely isn't a proven coach. he only coached for 3 seasons, that's it. i don't see this guy as a coach that would stay here on the long term

I wonder if we could use some player leadership. I think someone mentioned Willie Green had to scream at the guys on court to play defense against Detroit. (I would love to see a clip of this.)

I don't think we have vets that will really kick anyone's butt into gear. Channing Frye knows what up but he's like a dad. Ben Gordon is like a quiet assassin. Luke Ridnour has never said a stern word in his life.

Tobias and Oladipo were supposed to be our leaders, right? Oladipo is way too quiet and introverted for this. The best he can do is bring energy every night. Tobias is going through his own issues with a contract year and butting heads with our dumb coach. Vucevic hasn't stepped up and probably doesn't plan to.

There's no one here to hold anyone accountable.
