Nope, but it is quite stupid on the coach's part.

I'm not buying the idea that it's simply because he's not good enough for what Casey requires on the court. There must be some kind of behind the scenes issues and he's in the dog house (though from his body language you would think otherwise).

Actually he played 34 minutes and 36 minutes in back to back games two weeks ago, and averaged more than 20 minutes a game regularly for most of the season. I also believe there might be a side issue going on as well, and Casey has a good reason for why Johnson's minutes are drastically cut. Will give the coach a benefit of the doubt on this one.

Where he was last year doesn't matter. He's one of our best role players right now.

James Johnson and his lack of minutes

Post#64 » by RaptorsCity12 » Mon Jan 26, 2015 1:40 pm

Casey thinks that since we won, it's seems like the lineup is working.

It's not.

The wins were against Milwaukee, Detroit (no Jennings) and Philly.

All by single digits. If you're a top 3 team in the conference you shouldn't have a problem blowing these teams out.

Casey needs to make some changes. ASAP.

There must be something going on in the locker room. That is the only thing I can think of.

I've always been a defender of Casey, but the benching of JJ really has me baffled.

The team doesn't just look better with him on the court:

Noone on the roster playing more minutes than him has better net points numbers than that. His PER is over 17. If Casey isn't going to play him because of off the court/attitude issues at least trade him for someone worth playing

Same here. And as much as JJ is this supposed hothead, he's been pretty quiet regarding this. I'm even more baffled that the reporters aren't asking Casey about it, and nobody has bothered to ask JJ. I think it's a pretty big deal to have this guy sitting on the bench and I don't buy Leo Rautins excuse that there's a logjam at the 3 (which has been the only thing I've heard anyone mention).

This is a locker room issue or else Casey is just an idiot. The lineup we see right now would never work in the playoffs, Vasquez needs to hit the bench and Ross or Johnson should start or else be traded.

In order to maintain my sanity I'm going to pretend the raptors are showcasing GV in an effort to raise his as well as Chucks and Handsbro's value for possible trade.

JJ has played too well in his spot minutes for this not to be the case.

This is certainly a possibility I'm willing to run with, it makes some sense, at least it's better than the casey is an idiot theories out there. (Casey is still getting on my nerves big time though)

Yes, this just supports the fact that Casey is a clown. We knew that already. There is no reasonable explanation for not playing JJ, when everyone else on the team is playing like complete garbage. JJ has stayed consistent through this whole rough patch. Leo Rautins says there are "other factors in play right now," so maybe there is something that we do not know...

You don't showcase GV for a trade by starting him at SG...everyone knows what GV is by this point.

I could see it being true for Tyler, but Casey hasn't been using JJ at the 4 like he should be anyway (which further supports the idiot theory).

You Jokers don't seem to understand its a god damn workplace. Just because a guy is performing doesn't mean he can flaunt or ignore "company" rules and regulations. If he is in the doghouse, he probably did something stupid.

I don't expect alot of you to know what is like managing people in a professional environment, as I assume most of you are expressing displeasure with Casey from the comforts of your dorm room, trying to see the computer screen through a haze of Bong smoke.

May be JJ's minutes are being cut to give DeRozan more minutes to get himself back into the flow of things. This is even more so with Ross on the bench and Vasquez starting. JJ's minutes become scares because of the new rotations. Before Ross and DD were both starting so JJ was able to get 20 minutes a game. With Ross floundering we need to replace him with a 3 point threat on the starting lineup. Casey doesn't want to change the starting lineup that drastically. For me that makes more sense then JJ is in Casey's doghouse or that JJ did something wrong.

You are just like the guy in the other thread. Stop contradicting yourself and making baseless assumptions to further your narrative of Casey. You claim there is no reasonable explanation for him not playing and then immediately point out the fact that Leo has mentioned that there are other factors at play. Is it all possible that those other factors are the reasonable explanation? :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
This isn't rocket science.

I agree must be a locker room issue. Also didn't Casey and JJ not see eye to eye in his first go around with the Raps? Hope it blows over and he gets some playing time. I would rather JJ get more mins than GV or the struggling Ross
