I would go as far as giving them the Clips 1st along with Mayo to land Gibson. Gibson is everything this team needs moving forward and still has at least 4-5 good years left in the tank, maybe more given his reduced minutes to this point of his career.

And Taj turns 30 this summer. Granted he's got low mileage as GP noted above, but this isn't like he's 25. The Bulls might be helped more in a playoff run with Mayo than with Taj. But I'd leave that to Bulls fans to weigh in if they concur. I think we'd lose a lot if Mayo left but would get the tradeoff with a tough post player.

I think K-Mart would have been that tough post player. The problem is his body is just gone apparently.

The Bulls would want our 2015 1st for Gibson, at least...

Gibson is a solid defensive big man and a favorable deal, think about all the teams that could use a player like that. The Cavs traded two 1st round picks for Timofey Mozgov!

I really think most of you guys overrate our scraps, teams aren't going to to give us productive starters on favorable deals for OJ Mayo!
Denver is looking to get some picks, since they know they can't compete in the West. Can we get a player like Lawson later in the draft the next couple of years? And Mayo and Ersan will not net us anything big.

I think his body was gone 4 years ago.

He's only on this team because of Kidd. If he wanted his friend around, bring him onto your coaching staff. Don't waste a roster spot on a guy who won't be healthy enough to give us anything on the court.
We're going to turn this team around 360 degrees.

Cavs were in need of a rim protector. In no other situation would Mozgov worth 2 first round picks.
No hay banda.

Yup, situation, team needs, etc

You cannot simply say player A pulled this in so player B has to also pull that same value in.

I feel like the more I learn about Kanter the more risky he seems. More as I make my way through Lowe's piece:

Kanter’s representatives are a little nuts, and there aren’t many teams stoked to pay his next contract.

Kanter is a tweener who probably leans more toward the center spot but can’t protect the rim or do the other things on defense that teams need from centers. The power forward position is absolutely loaded around the league, and teams aren’t much interested in bigs who can’t shoot 3s or patrol the hoop. Kanter is a skilled player — a post-up bruiser with a nose for offensive rebounds and a sweet jumper. He has worked a bit harder on defense this year, though the results haven’t come — not shocking, since he’s just 22.

Kanter could follow Greg Monroe’s path to two-way respectability, but he’d have to earn many more free throws and improve his passing exponentially. Every path on Kanter’s decision tree points to “shoot” — he has just 26 assists all season, which is kind of laughable considering how much Quin Snyder has his bigs handling the ball around the elbows.

26 assists all season? Wow.

If Kanter would just be a chucker playing me-first for a crazy deal his reps have him hopped up about, I don't even know how much he'd help us win this year. If Kidd would bench him for that kind of play it also could get ugly considering he's already running to the press whining for a trade in Utah.

We'd have an 80 page thread on that signing if this were 12 months ago. What a terrible decision and waste of a roster spot.

Kanter is a black hole on offense. His personality just doesn't fit on this team, and for those who think the offense is stagnant with Knight handling the ball, Kanter doesn't pass out of the post so having two of those type players is just a terrible terrible idea.

So, by all of these descriptions Kanter is essentially Drew Gooden but with less rebounding ability. Yikes.

Suns were active on the phones this weekend. The sense is they are ready to deal Dragic, rather than risk losing him to free agency.

Can you guys finally stop talking about Kanter, or are we still going to let his game against us be the end all, be all?

Wasn't he hurt when we gave him his 2nd 10 day AND when we made it a full season deal? With separate injuries? We've probably spent more on his treatment than on his contract.

If this is true, I would imagine it's because they project Knight to play off the ball moving forward. I think they are all in on Knight, but not as a point guard. Especially since there are Lawson, Reggie Jackson murmurs.
