If Houston is going this hard after Dragic you'd have to think they'd be very interested in Knight as a backup plan. They have some tasty stuff to offer.

I'm amazed the Thunder even offered him that kind of coin. No way we trade for him unless Knight's going out, and even then, that'd be a mistake if he wants more than $12 mil per year. Jackson is delusional.

I mean he isn't worse than Kemba and with a years worth of inflation tacked on, it isn't that delusional. I certainly would want no part of that though.

A player wanting a bigger deal doesn't mean you have to give it to him. Didn't Kanter also say he wanted Gordon Hayward money? I wouldn't be worried about it unless we thought our front office is stupid enough to pay players far more than their worth, and as I'm considering the slate completely clean starting this last year I'll start worrying about that kind of stuff again when it actually becomes a problem.

We clearly are going to need a big body going forward to play alongside our forwards, but if the Jazz are asking high for Kanter I see no reason to meet that price.

$21.1 come off the books in two years in Ersan, ZaZa and Mayo. That is when we must have a big guy with some bulk who can play, and considering that we should have the $ to go get him.

In the meantime, we'll look in next year's draft as well.

I think this is pretty much the divide.

If we trade for Kanter, it's because we think he can contribute at C with his rebounding, shooting, and size, but also because we think he'll be able to fix some of his flaws here similar to how Henson has. Just going from a tanking team to a team that competes every night is often enough to get a guy to put in more effort.

Doesn't seem like we're trading Middleton IMO.

Henson could be a great back up center. Or we could maximize on his trade value.

Wondering if we're offering around a package of Henson with Ersan / Mayo and maybe the LAC pick.

If Ersan goes to the Kings then Stauskas could go to a 3rd team too.

The issue is that Kanter isn't a legit starting NBA center, but will likely be paid as if he's one starting next summer. With Henson you at least have one more season to see if he takes a leap before you have to make a decision on giving him a big contract.

I was actually trying to take Kanter out of the equation and state the obvious, Henson isn't a long term answer either.

Kyler:

With the Milwaukee Bucks closing in on a buyout of big man Larry Sanders, they have turned their attention to the trade market in a significant way.

The Bucks have been linked to several notable players including Denver’s Ty Lawson, Utah’s Enes Kanter and even Oklahoma City’s Reggie Jackson.

The Bucks have been in the market for a point guard since the summer when they had targeted Phoenix’s Eric Bledsoe, hoping to pair him with Brandon Knight in the back court as an interchangeable rotation.

The Bucks’ stance has been that they would not mortgage their future for a “quick” fix today, but they do seem open to making a move that bolsters their playoff hopes now and improves the roster for next season.

The Bucks have dangled names like Ersan Ilyasova, O.J. Mayo and even big man John Henson in offers to other teams, so its clear the Bucks want to make a deal and with Sanders’ $11 million per year salary likely being stretched down to just over $2.1 million per year, the Bucks have some unexpected breathing room to take on a player that could command real money in July.

Still scary how much these middling players around the league think they should be paid like stars.

Unfortunately this is going to be THE topic for us the next 24-months going forward. With no cap smoothing that the players union rejected last week, every single team in the league will have $10 to $30 million of cap space in two years.

Then add in the first wave of reduced length four-year contracts coming due from the 2011 CBA.

Guys like Henson are going to get paid $10mm+ per year and the Reggie Jackson's might get $8-$10 as well from someone.

That's why in this Kanter debate, I actually prefer we just keep Henson, but we are going to be paying one of those guys $10-$12 million a year soon.

Henson isn't going to make some magical jump. This is his third season, he may get a little better, but not any better than bench/reserve . Kanter could be more, is he worth the risk? Idk, that up for bucks management to decide...but its crazy how many people DONT want him when he is young and showed potential. I'd personally try an get a big man filler in a mayo trade and sign Monroe in the off season.
Bucks fan since day one. Go Bucks!

This, to me at least, is the most important point. I don't like Henson a whole lot, but my opinion may change in a year. Most importantly, the opinions that matter may change.

Any combination of the two of Arsen/Mayo/JOB/Bayless + Clippers pick is the max I would offer for Kanter. Coach Kidd and his staff have been great at getting the most out of guys so far this season. I'm willing to give them a chance to work Kanter in our system for the right price.

Jazz get: Stauskas/Thompson/Clippers 2017 1st
