We've just gone through the dynamic backcourt combo of Baddy and have it all. I highly doubt we go with another version of it so soon.

Please tell me you aren't comparing Ty Lawson to Baddy or Ellis? If you mean Reggie Jackson then I get it...but Ty Lawson??

What else needs to be done in your eyes?

*EDIT Nuggets get Clips 2017 1st and Kings 2016 1st

*EDIT 2 That is Henson not Bayless, misclicked

That trade basically leaves us Jason Thompson, Dudley, Martin and JOB as the only PF/C's on the roster. We would easily need Lebron James and Kevin Durant to overcome that.

Would likely be accompanied by another move 8-)

Personally, I like the idea of giving Giannis some major burn at Center though.

Bayless and/or Mayo would need immediately shipped out for a big and Id look to bring in Bass if/when he's bought out.

I like Giannis wherever he's at on the court so playing him at center works as long as we have a bully type power forward to play next to him. Giannis can play center on offense but he'll likely need to add major weight and strength to ever be able to defend the position at a high level.
RIP Kobe Forever. GOAT 8-24. Long Live Giannis

No surprise to me at all and the same happens in baseball today most years.

The trade deadline gets near and media members post all kinds of socalled rumors. Fans fill up message boards with countless hypothetical trade scenarios. Then the clock hits zero and the deadline passes with more often than not maybe one or two at most notable trades and a handful of much smaller largely irrelevant trades.

Trades are hard to actually get done for a variety of reasons, especially the money/cap aspects.

Ty Lawson and Chris Paul are in a league of their own when it comes to high assists and low turnovers.

No chance we can get him for Henson/LAC 1st, but if we can you take it and RUN!

Small backcourt is a small backcourt.

Anyway, I think Denver would ask for Knight + a couple of firsts for Lawson. A crappy deal around Henson/Clips 1st ain't getting it done.

Yeah no way the Nuggets accept Henson and a Clips 1st for Lawson who is averaging 17 and 10.

Knight is 1" shorter than Wade.

Agreed. I don't think I'd do what it would realistically take to get Lawson. My guess is we would have to give up Middleton or Knight along with a pick. No way I'd do that given the red flags.

Spot minutes at C against other teams backup bigs or PF's is one thing, having him as our starting C is crazy for the reasons I listed. I disagree it appears to be their plan in the future, there's no evidence of that.

Yea, Kidd here and there played Giannis at center in small ball lineups when Zaza was out and we had no backup center. Hasn't happened that i can recall since Zaza got back.

Maybe a few years down the road the Bucks make Gianis a center full time, but i strongly would bet against it. Plus, i think it would waste his athletic gifts keeping him mostly in the paint.

With so may tall athletic forwards in the NBA today who can shoot from the perimeter and have face up skills, i'd rather have Giannis guarding those guys than trying to battle in the paint every night with large men who are stronger than him, even after he gets stronger.

I realize we'd have nothing to offer TOR, but I'd really love to get Jonas Valanciunas still.

So 4" shorter than Middleton. Who is also a better guard.

You said 'small guards are small guards.' I disagree. Monta Ellis and Brandon Jennings are not Wade and Ty Lawson. They are also not Knight and Ty Lawson. I would prefer a taller SG sure, but Ellis and Jennings were inefficient, chucking, undersized, selfish guards. They had a lot more going on then just 'undersized.' That is my only point.

A Lawson/Knight backcourt would have to be one of the smallest, if not the smallest in the league. I'm to lazy right now to check every other starting backcourt in the league, but i'd assume of a Lawson/Knight duo, there couldn't be more than one or two that small.

The current Bucks for example would go from a 6'4/6'7 backcourt to 5'11/6'4.

One nice development of late has been 6'7 Middleton posting up smaller shooting guards say 8-15 feet away and effectively shooting/scoring over those shorter guards. A nice addition to his skillset. Kidd was also doing that with Marshall on small point guards before his unfortunate injury.

Wade was never a small guard.

Zero desire in a small backcourt, hell I want the opposite, there are some intriguing 6'5"pg's in the upcoming draft, plus hoping to get a 7' center somewhere along the way as well.

I'd absolutely prefer Lawson and Middleton at gthe guard positions. I just don't think you pass on buying Lawson low because you have Knight.

Brandon Knight would be a good fit with Brad Stevens & the Celtics.

Return to Milwaukee Bucks
