Eagles fans were taught to hate over 30 year olds, now they love them, lol. Just wait till Chips running preseason and Gore will miss most of it with a pulled hamstring..... I hope he does anyway, by week 8 his legs if he's not already injured will be hurting.

In a nutshell, Chip is trying to copy the Pats', Broncos', and Colts' blueprint of success. Take your franchise QB and then build around him with pieces that fit the system. All 3 use the "running back by committee" system as opposed to a single back dominating the touches a la the Eagles with McCoy.

Despite his age, Gore can still play effectively in a reduced role with limited touches. He'll split his carries with Sproles and Polk or a RB they take in one of the later rounds in the draft. Considering that all three guys combined will make less than what Shady makes by himself, I'd say it was a smart signing from both a football and a financial standpoint.

Losing Maclin hurts a lot obviously, but look for them to sign a replacement. Reggie Wayne, perhaps?

Losing Maclin oddly makes Mccourty a must. The offense is going to take a step back so the D needs to be way better.
The feedback I've received from our fans is they understand we are trying to build something great. Good decisions come from having a broad set of options and making tough calls. We will do it unblinkingly. We have to be willing to take smart risks-Hinkie

If they do, I don't get it. Letting young productive players go and replace them with old farts. Makes me wanna not watch them more.

I'm going to wait until after free agency and the draft are settled before I make my official judgment about Chip and his philosophy of letting our big names go. There has to be a reason for it.

as a Skins fan, very excited to see Shady and Maclin leave.

What are the Eagles going to trade us for the 5th pick?

Both Shady and Maclin had career years under Chip btw. His offensive scheme is what should have the rest of the division still worried.

Eagles wont trade up with Washington either. If they do, it'll be moving into the top 2.

I can live with trading Shady, not re-signing Maclin, cutting Trent Cole. Signing Sanchez....WHY?

Chip is spending money for his defense and believes he can put in scheme type players into his offense and be extremely successful.

I'm 100% for Mariota

Because he knows our system and he was the best backup on the market.

I obviously didn't want to lose Maclin, but I felt indifferent when I learned that he signed with KC. But once I heard McCourty was going back to NE, that's the one that annoyed me. That move alone I think messed with the plan to make the D way better. There's a huge drop off in the secondary market after him. Rahim Moore is decent but not McCourty.

I'm not mad because we obviously had no shot at McCourty since he took less money to re-sign with the Pats. If we do sign a safety hopefully it will be another case of signing a lesser name for cheaper (Malcolm Jenkins) over the bigger, more expensive name (Jarius Byrd). If not I assume we'll be drafting a safety in the third or fourth round, assuming Chip uses his first and second rounders this year to trade up for Mariota.

IMO, each new regime wants to draft or sign their own players instead of keeping the good players already in place and build from there. We've seen it so many times in every professional sports team.

Dude's a possession reciever. Eagles need to sign or draft a reciever who's a deep threat that can change gears to pull away from secondaries.

That isn't maclin if that's what you're implying and matthews isn't just a possession guy
