I wasn't going to bring up this name, given that historically, the 6th man award has been been who's the leading scorer off the bench, but if we're going by actual impact and not PPG, Josh Smith has been a more impactful Iguodala this year.

As usual, this will probably be the 'Bench Chucker' award.

I agree that Iggy would be a great choice. He's the glue that allows the rest of the Warriors bench players to shine. And given quite how good that bench has been, it would be a very good choice.

Gobert doesn't fit the 6th man for me, he has just improved and the Jazz have worked out how to use him. He was on the bench almost by accident, rather than by design and doesn't come in as a second unit specialist. Mirotic is a similar situation.

Wow that thinking is weird to me. I have no desire to bash Lee, but Iguodala is the one who willingly sacrificed his starting spot to an inferior player for the good of the team, and is still 5th on the team in minutes because his value is so clear cut. Lee simply got hurt, and then lost his job to a player who could help the team more, and he's 10th in minutes on the team because he's just not that vital of a player.

Yeah, and I shudder to think what our record replacing Mirotic with even somebody as good as Patrick Patterson or Luis Scola would be. Mirotic is a playmaker when he's out there, even distributing the ball on the dribble; it's something that even Noah doesn't seem to be able to really do anymore, despite his great court awareness.

I'd argue Mirotic has had a greater impact post All-star break than any of the the other contenders, perhaps even nearly offsetting the pre All-star break lull. Actually, what's a good site for specific game-to-game advanced metrics?

I'd love it if Niko won this, but I just don't see it. He hasn't done this well for a whole year, rather just the past month when the Bulls needed him most and he got his minutes. I wish he got more minutes earlier in the season because he'd probably have this award locked, but that just isn't the case.
