wonder who taught him that move. it's even more obscene to see him protest that call after he got caught. he should have been tossed from the game for that one.

Rather get 5th, HCA vs Portland than GSW, as opposed to get up to 3rd and host SAS/Mem

mkwest wrote:2nd is great. 5 is cool. 6 if Memphis remains in 3rd is not the end of the world. 3rd is cool if Memphis totally implodes and drops to 6th.
Third is good if Memphis is at 6th. 3rd with SA at 6th is just annoying. Memphis has all the tie breakers on SA, so they would need to have a worse record than SA. I think Houston could at least split with SA, then SA has GS tonight which can shake things up.

SA could go 4-2, 5-1 or 6-0. If they go 4-2, Memphis would have to go 1-4 in the rest of their games to have a lower record than SA, that's crazy. If they go 5-1, Memphis would need to go 2-3, which is possible. 6-0 would obviously be fine, but not as good as 5-1. Memphis would need to go 3-2, but 6-0 means they would beat Houston twice. If they beat Houston twice and Memphis implodes, then SA takes 2nd seed. That puts SA in the Clippers bracket.

Best case scenario is LAC (5-1 or better, 55+ wins), SAS (5-1, 55 wins), Houston (4-2 or better, 56+ wins), Memphis (2-3, 54 or less wins)

This puts Houston 2nd, Clippers 3rd, Portland 4th, San Antonio 5th and Memphis 6th. Clippers have Memphis, Houston/Dallas in their bracket.

I can see two losses for Memphis, @LAC and @GS, that third loss might be hard, maybe @Utah, which would have them losing 3 in a row, yikes. Maybe the Pelicans will be the one, hard, but not impossible.

Memphis still recovering from the March of Death month they endured. I'm predicting they go 5-2 with losses to NOP and GSW. I originally had them beating the Wizards since John Wall thought the Grizz disrespected them by resting the guys from the previous match on the road. Make him eat his words sort of speak. :banghead: I think the Grizzlies chances of winning the Division Title is less than 30% after taking damage from the many losses from playing in March.

April Games Best case 6-1/Worse Case 5-2

Whoever the teams we all have to play against, we just have to man up and play hard to win or go home and wait it out next season.

Pretty much. Some roads may not be as difficult as others, but no team is a walk in the park by any means.

I'll haggle with anybody who is penciling in Memphis for a win in LAC.

Clippers would have been off for 3 days. Memphis would be on the second night of a back to back after going to Utah. Sure, Memphis could pull it off, but the odds are very against them, not to mention over the last 10 games.

LA Clippers:
116 Ortg / 101.0 Drtg

Memphis:
100.8 Ortg / 100.8 Drtg

15 games:

LA Clippers:
112.2 Ortg / 101.7 Drtg

Memphis:
99.9 Ortg / 99.1 Drtg

Memphis has basically been playing with a 0 differential the last 10 and last 15 games.

Post All-Star:

LA Clippers (24 games, 17-7):
108.9 Ortg / 100.1 Drtg

Memphis (24 games, 13-11):
99.1 Ortg / 99.7 Drtg

So I'm really skeptical about Memphis bringing enough offense on the second night of a back to back to be able to beat the Clippers based on their recent play. Now, they have had tough games, but they have also had too many losses to more mediocre level teams in that span. Still, things don't always happen in the most likely and predictable manner, so of course you never know.

awesome.

their schedule is **** to end the season. We can afford to lose one and still outlast them.
For all those guys to sit out in that game, the injuries must have been series given that we're wrestling for seeding.

heres to hoping NOLA can steal one in Memphis on Wednesday.

I would really like the 2 seed or to stay where we are. I would like to avoid a 3/6 vs SAS.

i still dont get how playoff rankings work. Is it possible for the spurs to move out of 6th place while the clippers are in 5th?
I dont really know whats going on, but i think all clipper fans agree that we do not want to play the spurs. can someone explain the likely scenarios?

If they pass us and mem they can move to 3 and us stay at 5. Portland is locked into the 4th seed pretty much.

we're tired with the Spurs in the loss column….i assume we have the tie breaker.

Point:
The Spurs are probably going to pass the Grizzlies too unless the Grizz turn it around.

Yup. Will be interesting. If we win out, which we should, and the Spurs win out, which they could but would have to sweep the b2b against Houston, hopefully we avoid them and get Memphis. I would also be fine with Portland and Houston, but Houston seems unlikely to drop from 2 to 6. We'll see. If they lose both to the Spurs this week they could.

Has anyone else noticed that if New Orleans grabs the 8th spot then we'll have a division with which every single team made the playoffs in the same year? I'm sure this has happened in the past but as a young NBA fan it is the first time i've seen it.

Yeah, the Spurs passing Memphis and us keeping 3rd would be best case scenario at this point, but it's not that likely. The Spurs would have to win out (I bet they rest the whole team at least once) and the paedobears still would have to lose 2 out of 4.

One can be our game, but the other will have to be tonight against a Pelicans team on the 2nd night of a back to back on the road, Friday in Utah against a team playing for nothing, or the last day against a resting Warriors full of bench players.

And we'd have to win out which is not that easy either, I can see the Suns being annoying as usual, and we play there on a b2b too. Sadly, the most likely thing is still that we'll play the Spurs, and they look really f*cking scary right now :(

If I'm the Clips, I would not play the Spurs. Considering the history between the two teams, they have their number. They are too methodical and have the depth necessary to outlast the Clips in a series. Likely 4-2 scenario. The Grizzlies as well as hell need to avoid them as well. They for some dumb reason keep getting caught up in the Spurs pick n roll schemes and never learn from those mistakes. The Spurs have always keyed in on Z-Bo to force the Grizzlies into a shooting team. Something the Grizzlies are not so popular for.

As for the Pels/Grizz matchup tonight, I wonder how the Pels will be effected by the game considering it's a back to back for them. Playing the Warriors was not that easy for them last night.

If the Pelicans manage to grab that 8th spot with the way their remaining schedule looks, major props to them.

The Clippers surely aren't the only team that would preffer to avoid the Spurs in the first round. But the standings are so close that all you can do is win out, go for home court advantage and hope for the best. Maybe we can "rest" some guys against Phoenix, if a loss in that game wouldn't be that bad for us. :)
