Keep in mind of the percentages and who wins the division in the Southwest Division. Memphis tied the season series with both the Rockets and Spurs at 2-2 a piece. Only the Spurs beat the Rockets in the season series 3-1. Which may have been the deciding factor for why the Rox fell to sixth from the back to back losses.

San Antonio 3-0 (56-26) 2nd
Clippers 3-0 (56-26) 3rd
Houston 3-1 (56-26) 5th or Memphis 2-2 (55-27) 5th
Memphis 2-2 (55-27) 6th or Houston 2-2 (55-27) 6th

The scenario with all of them at 55 wins is going to be hard to happen. If the Clippers win round one, I'd rather face Memphis or Dallas in round 2 than SA or Dallas.

Memphis is up 3 now

so if Memphis goes 56-26, they get 2nd over SAS?

I forgot to include the 3 way tie rules. Only if Houston doesn't get 56 wins. If Houston also has 56 wins, then San Antonio is 2nd, Memphis 5th and Houston 6th. If Houston only has 55 wins and Memphis and SA 56 wins, then Memphis is 2nd, San Antonio 5th and Houston 6th.

how in the hell does that work?

SAS would win in a 3 way tie because they won the season series with Houston?
But Houston had 55 wins, then Memphis is over SAS because it has a better conference record?

so is it still the most likely scenario that we will face the spurs, or has that changed?

I believe the Rockets are the most likely opponent now

Annoying isn't it, lol

3 way - best record in the matchups among the three teams
Only 2 teams - best record vs division

lol

tried not to jinx the Pellies.

they had a little lead.
The Rockets just took this game over.

here's to hoping that if the Rockets win, they win out…Memphis loses and the Pelicans beat SAS at home.

Spurs win, move up to 2nd. Grizzlies fall to 5th. Here's to hoping the Pels beat the Spurs. I believe the Grizzlies have the tie breaker over the Spurs correct? So here's hoping they end up with at least 1 win in their final 2 to force Spurs to 5th. But that only works if the Rockets go at least 1-1. Ahhh so much confusion ahaha.

If Grizzlies, Rockets, Spurs, Clippers win out:

2. Spurs
3. Clippers
4. Blazers
5. Grizzlies (home court)
6. Rockets
7. Mavs

If Grizzlies, Rockets, Spurs win out, Clippers lose one

2. Spurs
3. Grizzlies
4. Blazers
5. Rockets (home court)
6. Clippers

The Blazers will not hold home court no matter what. The only team they can catch is the Rockets, and the only way the Rockets wind up in the fifth spot is if they finish with a better record. The Blazers are locked in the fourth seed and will not have home court.

I think it's easier than that with a couple of games left, there's not as many options if you assume the easy wins are gonna get got. Houston is surely gonna win both their games (@CHA, vsUTA) and the Warriors are gonna kill the Grizzlies tonight. We are gonna win at least one of our games (@DEN, @PHX), probably both since those teams are positioning for the lottery now. So, I'd say the only two games that could go either way are IND-MEM and SAS-NOP on Wednesday. Pacers and Pelicans are gonna be fighting for a playoff spot, and knowing the Spurs, they might say f*ck it and rest everyone on Wednesday.

Best case scenario for us: Indiana wins in Memphis and the Pelicans defeat the Spurs. Houston gets 2nd seed, we get 3rd, and we play the Grizzlies in the first round, then Houston or Dallas in the 2nd if we make it. The Warriors and Spurs fight it out on the 2nd round.

Worst case scenario for us: Memphis wins against Indiana and the Spurs lose to the Pelicans. We have to play the Spurs in the first round and we're f*cked.

Most likely scenario imo: Both the Grizzlies and the Spurs win their last game so we have a 3-way tie between us, the Rockets and the Spurs. Spurs get the second seed and we get the 3rd. We play the Grizzlies in the 1st round and the Spurs in the 2nd if we get there.

Somebody on the GD said the Grizz might rest Z.Bo tonight against Oakland.

that puts them in 6th automatically and sets up a 1st round matchup with them………….

This thread is just funny to me because of what usually comes after this. Everyone "Clippers have no chance, their bench is awful, Spurs have a better overall team, I expect Spurs to win the West". A month from now, if Clippers play and lose to the Spurs, "Clippers are chokers, CP this, Blake that, 2nd round this and that, team is so stacked".

Nice fail on posting the thread correctly. Copy and paste doesnt work either ;)

It is funny though, because that is exactly what will happen.

Clippers can't mess around tomorrow like they did tonight. If they take care of business, I'll be pulling so hard for New Orleans to pull of the upset. It'll be the biggest game most of their (Pelican players) careers. I hope they go all out.

Pelicans-Spurs should be fun. 2nd seed is still a possibility.

The dream scenario would be: we win, Rockets lose, Grizzlies lose, Spurs lose. We play Dallas in the first round and Houston/Memphis in the second.
The bad dream: we win, Rockets win, Grizzlies win, Spurs lose. We play San Antonio in the first round and Houston/Dallas in the second.

Would've been sweet if the Spurs had the tiebreaker against Memphis. Higher chances for the dream scenario, lower for the bad dream one.

I'll be really mad if everything else goes our way and we find a way to lose against Phoenix. :)
