Upshaw don't want to play basketball.

Does he want a couple hundred thousand? He'd by being a warm and athletic body would be better than retaining Kelly and Sacre aka the suck twins both on the roster

I want Hezonja on Lakers team. So that I can get over Kobe sucking camel's dick this season and have something to be excited by, other than Randle and Clarkson.

I think he would be a great roleplayer, it's just become so annoying of a term but 3&D type. If we don't get Winslow(by don't get I mean hopefully we get Towns) with our pick I hope we get him with our late 1st. With 2nd rounder I hope we are in position to get Upshaw. He has immense potential. Those are the types you should go for with 2nd rounders. Pain in the ass but high potential.

I'm hoping for RHJ with the late 1st and George Lucas with the early second. At worst, the PA guy at staples could play the Star Wars theme song anytime Lucas came onto the court.

If we stay exactly where we are I see us drafting Russell. Which will be awesome because I can see him and Okafor battling out for rookie of the year.

it's important to note that the far most likely scenario is that the lakers pick 5th. Heck picking 1st, 2nd, 3rd and losing the pick are all more likely to happen than picking 4th

At fourth, the Lakers have 11.9% odds of winning the top overall pick, 12.6% for second, 13.3% for third, 9.9% for fourth and 35.1% for fifth.

If the Lakers drop to sixth (16.0% chance) or seventh (1.2%), their 2015 draft pick will go to the 76ers, as part of the Steve Nash trade with the Phoenix Suns.

http://www.nba.com/2015/news/04/17/2015 ... l-release/

Baffled by this - NBA.com says Lakers will draft 4th, after the three lotto teams pick for the order of the first three picks. Then descending by suckage. So then says "pick my be conveyed to Phila via PHX."

I thought this was settled?

Not sure the confusion, JV, you may have read it wrong. But what it says is:

The teams entered in the lottery are as follows (note: the first three picks in the Draft will be determined by the lottery and the remainder of the "lottery teams" will select in positions 4 through 14 in inverse order of their consolidated standings at the end of the regular season)

So just like the other draft sites say and past lotteries: they pick the 1st 3 picks in lottery form, then the rest go in inverse standings order.

Star Wars is entering the draft, I wouldn't mind taking him with the 27th or the 34th pick.

Wow, Kris Dunn returns to school. Sorry CAPSLOCK.

Christian Wood heading back to school too.

Some surprises for me (returning to school)... Melo Trimble, Christian Wood, Kris Dunn, Jakob Poeltl, Nigel Hayes, Damian Jones, Domantas Sabonis...

This 2015 class looking really weak all of a sudden.

Thanks Crazy8s - See above. That's why I'm confused - the issue is settled, no? We draft fourth? Then why do I see all these references to other possible outcomes?

No, its more likely they get any one of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th combined than 5th.
11.9 (1st) + 12.6 (2nd) + 13.3 (3rd) + 9.9 (4th) = 47.7% chance of staying in the top 4
compared to 35.1% of picking at #5

No the issue isn't settled. The lottery won't be settled until May 19th, which will affect picks 1-14.

Every team that missed the playoffs has a chance at the top 3 picks. Beyond that, the picks go in inverse standings order. Meaning the team w/ the worst win-loss record, T-Wolves will have at worst the 4th pick.

Our pick, being that we had the 4th worst record could drop to 7th IF 3 teams behind us jump us and win the lottery (pretty unlikely). Bear in mind if we fall to the 6th or 7th pick we lose it and it's conveyed to Philly via the Steve Nash trade.

So a lot is on the line.

What has been settled were the picks outside of the lottery (picks 15-30). Thus there was the tiebreaker for the Houston pick we received in the Jeremy Lin trade. Instead of 28th we'll get the 27th pick.

With so many prospects staying for another year, early 2nd round look less promising. There were great steal types like Justin Anderson-Star Wars-Robert Upshaw-Clifford Alexander now all look like late 1sts. Hopefully one will slip to our 34th pick.
