Re: Giannis Intentionaly Levels Mike Dunleavy
Dunleavy got what he deserved and has deserved for years...those cheap shots during the game are much more uncalled for than what GreekFreak did. Stupid decision on the kids part yes, but clearly understandable with the refs turning a blind eye. I suppose Dunleavy got what he wanted as it took their focus off the basketball aspect of the game and series...unfortunate...I'm all for physicality, but Dunleavy frankly is just a btch..

did you watch the series? it was a marathon session of cheap shots from both sides. Giannis with the cheapest shot of all, Dunleavy is lucky to not be injured.

Completely disagree. How many times did we see MCW yapping away, despite being down by 20+? Dunleavy's hit (which I agree deserved at the very least a flagrant), shook his focus. Williams wasn't just as concerned about talking **** to Dunleavy as he was carving into the lead.
Pachulia even acknowledges this in the quote I posted above. Dunleavy targeted two young players who weren't composed. Kenny Smith also made a good point at half-time. The Bucks were overtly concerned about being tough, but they went about it the wrong way. As he said, being tough is getting hit and responding by executing your plays. Being soft is getting baited into an ejection.
And again, I think this is sort of sour grapes here. We saw cheap shots from Zaza and Henson in the first few games as well. This was a fun, physical series that was reminiscent of good old fashioned 80's basketball. If the Bulls lost, I'm sure he'd be complaining to, but from a pure basketball fan stand point, I sure enjoyed the physicality of this series.

I have, but I'm talking this specific game. Your telling me that you consider a body check more dangerous than a shot to the throat? To be fair it's lucky that NO ONE on either side was injured in the series.

I feel like lost in all this are these "cheap" plays as well:

Again. It was a physical series between two teams that quickly grew to hate each other. Let's enjoy it, because all of us have been complaining about how soft basketball has become.

Dunleavy is dirty, always has been dirty. He looks all choir boy, but he has gotten under tons of guys' skins over the years by taking cheap shots, and some of them rather dangerous. I couldn't support somebody diving at his knees, but if somebody wants to knock him on his ass in a season ending blowout? Go for it. Its been well earned.

Oh I agree 100% on the physicality aspect. I really enjoyed the series from that aspect. Just don't get the hate on Giannis' play. Was it dumb? Yes. Uncalled for? No, not after seeing all the other shots Dunleavy handed out in this game.

I don't think it's sour grapes at all. It was clearly an over the top, non-basketball play. I mean, the guy basically sucker punched MCW in the neck area while he was in the air. There is no reasonable way to twist that into "good old fashioned 80's basketball". It was a garbage play and any normal athlete would be furious about it. Especially when it wasn't the only questionable play by that player in the game.
What Zbo and the guys in Memphis do all the time, where they just play hard, with basketball physicality and an edge to them...is true "getting into players' heads". There's a clear difference between that, and what MDJ did.
Did what MDJ did shake the focus of the team? Of course it did. But acting like it was some feat of MDJ's toughness, grit, all that cliche stuff is just ludicrous. It was a dirty play that elicited an understandable level of frustration, in addition to the natural frustration that comes with being outmatched in the game itself.
Also, I don't know why you're bringing up the Henson, Zaza, and game 1 GA/MDJ stuff as if that's anywhere near the same thing as this stuff.

Dunleavy deserved that one. His elbow to throat was on purpose too.

There was a play in game 5 (i think) where zaza basically lowered his shoulder into dunleavys chest, there was no doubt watching the replay of what zaza's intent was. And thats just one example of the tone that was set by both teams. imo a big reason the Bucks won game 4 and 5 is due to them being more physical then Chicago.
But im glad it was a true playoff series, i hate seeing all these current nba players play buddy buddy with each other. hats off to the bucks for bringing some terrific defense throughout.
This is the entire problem with these types of conversations: Lowering your shoulder into someone's chest is a basketball play or common foul (unless you are playing with your 4-year old niece).
Tackling someone is not a basketball move. Maybe you are to fixated on the NFL draft. Actually this is just a dumb statement. Running the court and hitting someone in a chest is stupid.Which is why his overrated butt watch the rest of the game from the locker room.

Dunleavy is and always has been a dirty player, I don't see how anyone can disagree with that.
I don't think he'll be suspended, but at the same time I wouldn't be surprised if he were.

What's this double standard you're holding your players too?
You expect the Chalmers hit to warrant a fine/suspension but Mike got away with 3 worse hits and it's "playoffs". I'm out. The irony.
Your not comprehending, the chalmers play was dirty but it was also playoffs dirty, never said i thought he should have been suspended. Just that thats how some series are played. You came in here with a previous agenda against Chicago and you want blood, its cool.
Lol trying to pull the "hater" card when your bias gets exposed. Any hit to the neck is a a flagrant. We have seen much weaker/accidental calls get called flagrant because they were to the neck and up.
Mike ,has a history of this. He is a repeat offender. He deserved 2 flagrant 1's for the first 2. It's not debatable. Open a poll on the GB and ask. I dare you. Add a "It's not a flagrant foul, it's a playoffs dirty foul!!!" option too, and see the votes it gets. Unless you pull the agenda card on everyone on GB, that is.jc23 wrote:i only saw one punch the rest were just chippy plays. Chalmers once almost took off a Bulls players neck in the playoffs and had no fine or suspension.
Just in case you forgot what you said ~50 minutes ago..
Where did he say it should be a suspension? He posted that Chalmer got away with a hard foul with no punishment. It is called a comparison. He never stated he should have been suspended.

Initially I was like Wow Giannis why did you have to do that ( even though I dont think it was that bad a foul)
Then I saw all the bush league that Dunleavy was doing all game posted in the thread.
I must say that I have seen some chippy play from the bulls over the years trying to get under your skin. All the "physical play" against my Heat. League hopefully can review and fine both players... yes Dunleavy too. What Dunleavy was doing is a notch below JR Smith.
