Would rather go for Porzingis.

It would cost more to get Porzingis and I think we need to offer Shabazz or Lavine to get a chance at either.

With or without Martin, I like Taj + #22 for Dieng.

My only concern with Towns are those brewer like legs of his. My only concern with Okafor is the Pek-like lateral foot movement.

That said, Flip will get us whoever works best.

I'm not sure it works financially, it would be very close, but I would be even more happy to keep Martin.

Im in the minority because I lean Okafor. Just to be clear, I am also ok with Russell and KAT; in that order.

Offensively, he is a young Tim Duncanesque in terms of feel and intelligence for the game. People bring up big AL and Pek only because he's an offensive minded post player. Okafor is already smarter and has better passing ability right now than either of those 2. OKafors floor is a 20ppg and thats if he doesnt improve at all.

Defensively, his size already gives him a leg up on plodding guys like Al and Pek. when looking at why young players fail, Ive been trying to focus a little more on awareness and iq. Okafor is aware and is smart, his lapses seem to come from a lack of conditioning more than being a bad defender.

X-factor.

Minny isnt the most desireable location for a lot of draftees. However, much like Wiggins, Okafor is a cold weather guy that also has a Minny guy (Jones) as a friend and teammate.

Intelligence. He's a smart guy in terms of basketball iq which tends to get overlooked by people when looking at prospects. The wolves are lacking heavily in this department. I count 3, maybe 4 players on this roster with at least average basketball intelligence; Rubio, KG, Hummel and Wiggins. Everyone else is far below average.

Not sure how they can pass on this guy.

This is from when he was 16!

I think he's going to be a special player.

His intelligence seems to be a lot more Duncan like...

That's depending how some teams evaluate kaminsky turner and even portis. Wcs could fall of the top 10.

Hear that Detroit, Charlotte, Miami are willing to trade their picks for a fast rebuild. I can see the kings wanting something similar, the cost should be definitely lavine or bazz, but we can take some dead weight back for porzingis instead, Landry or Thompson probably.

He's only 19. Hasn't even come close to growing into his body yet and he was playing against NBA level talent at 16.

Rubio/Wiggins/Towns would be one of the smartest trios in the NBA imo.

So there's a good chance we start 4 international players next year with Ricky, Wiggy, Bjelica/Bennett, Towns. That's pretty cool to go along with Gorgui on the bench and Pek in a wheelchair it's a lot of international flavour.

I would only makes a run at Porzingis if we draft Okafor. Okafor needs a shot blocking stretch four next to him, those are crazy rare but Porzingis is one.

If we're set on Okafor, I hope we can move down to two and pick up assets that we can combine with Bazz for Porzingis. I doubt that's possible though.

Couldn't Payne be that shot blocking 4?

I get that Towns plays for the DR in FIBA and such situations, but it's tough for me to consider him an international player when he was born and raised in New Jersey and went the whole AAU/Burger Boy/Kentucky route.

If he can harness his athleticism beyond the occasional highlight.

I'm happy with either as both are cornerstone type players. I think Towns brings a more diverse skill set (realizing both aren't even close to what they will be) which is why I prefer him. Watching both I thought they will both be great NBA players, but KAT had some moments where I got that feeling he's definitely it. It's just my gut, but only players I really remember seeing that at a college level and Having that feeling were Duncan, Kidd, Paul, Nash, and Durant.

I'd go with Towns if i'm Minny (although i personally would want you to pick someone else, so we can grab him).

But Minny really needs to do their due dilligence and have them go at each other in workouts, do their own physical and athletic testing and then make their decision based on that. If Okafor impresses defensively against Towns and if he can show that he's able to hit his FTs, i think he could be taken ahead of Towns.

wuh wuh wee wah. I guess I would be happy with Okafor too but dam I wish his FT shooting was better. His hands are incredible though, the guy palms the ball like a dodgeball

Flip is picking Okafor and it is the right choice.
Towns is a better fit offensively with this team, if LaVine and Wiggins pan out as stars, but you cant go with fit when you dotn have any established big time players yet and your team just won 16 games.
Okafor is the best talent and the guy with the highest ceiling in this class (right there with Mudiay in terms of ceiling), and although Towns might be a more seemingly fit, that is not the way to go at this point, not yet.
Anyway, I´d start getting ready for Okafor if I were a Wolves fan, you are drafting him 99%.

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
