The thing about WCS is you know he's not going to be a bust....but by the same account you also know he's not going to be a star. You aren't drafting a franchise cornerstone max player...but you are drafting someone who will be in the rotation and give you solid minutes from the get go.
To me he looks like Tyson Chandler 2.0...if he's that good I dont think anyone would be upset about taking him at 5.

Trill's defensive potential could be a real game changer the way Gobert was for Utah. and after an elite superstar scorer, i think an elite defensive presence is atop the list of priorities in ranking BPA for me.
I don't think a guy who changed his middle name to "trill" aligns with what the Magic look for in high character individuals. Plus at 5 that would be a slight reach, would want us to trade down if they really want to get "trill".
how does changing your name = bad character? has he been in trouble with the law? associated with bad people? ive seen nothing that says bad character from him
I think the word is primarily used by those in rap culture, which is still (unfortunately) associated with gang mentality and stuff like that.
Wrong, but some people see it as an indication of a larger character issue.
Personally I would investigate his background and surroundings like I would any other prospect. If there's more to it than it'll turn up in no time. Otherwise it's not an issue at all.

People are sleeping on this guy because he is a foreigner and Magic fans are still pissed at Fran Vasquez( I am too). But you can't just pit him in that boat and say he would jilt us like Fran did. Fran didn't come over but that isn't what happens for every euro prospect. Most come over. Sure he could decide to stay and if so then don't take him. But he is in the draft and I haven't seen anything indicating that he wouldn't come over.
Using the Fran fiasco as a reason to not draft Pôrzingis is stupid anyway.
From 2000 to 2013 there were 20 players (21 including Jennings) playing internationally who were lottery picks, all but Fran went on to play in the NBA, and with the financial gap between the NBA and european leagues increasing exponentially there's zero reason to believe Piorzingis won't make the juymp eventually.
If you want to try to measure the elements of basketball that are supposedly unmeasurable, spend a game just watching Marc Gasol.

Find someone to slide back in the 10-12 range, and pick up either another pick or a backup PG, something the team needs, grab Portis and the team already starts to look better.
I like your opinion and plans for the draft.I like bobby s game a lot and after watching his interview at the combine i am 100% for him.He has a strong mentality and is a hard worker.I hope he will have a workout for Orlando .

Between Dipo, Frye, Harris, Fournier, Herzonja, and Vucevic you'd have good shooting at every position, with a lot of good stretch potential for an offensive surge.

Dipo was not a good shooter last year.

Judging be Henny's past drafts I say that our board for 5 looks something like this:
Winslow: 1
WCS: 1A
Porzingus
Herzonja
Johnson
Whoever else
At least at this point in the process.

34% from distance is well above average for sophomore guards, and his ft% is stellar. He was a very good shooter last year in context and improved in every area. He is a good shooter.

I should add: I prefer Winslow overall but think WCS probably fits a bigger need. Will be interesting to see which way Henny goes.
Winslow could be a star....WCS probably just a really good role player.

Oladipo's shooting percentages weren't so much the problem as his style of play was. He needs to get smarter and needs a coach to tell him what to do. I think the draft depends on the coach, I don't think Thibs would go for Kristaps, but you never know, some people say he is a #1 pick.

I'm posting this in here as well since the concern about Winslow's height seems to be an ongoing discussion in this thread.

For comparison

I don't see in why he's not going to be able to guard 3's.... I think people are overreacting to his measurements. Clearly a 6'10 wing span, and elite athleticism should make up for the half inch it would take to make him 6'7..The realGm mandated height for a SF....

One question that just popped into my mind. Who would you prefer for this team beside Vuc and why. Nerlens Noel or WCS?
I guess it just shocks me that so many people feel this way. As a frequent watcher of SEC basketball over the last decade I'm at a loss to understand the fascination with WCS -- and the question of him versus Noel seems downright laughable to me.
They played on the same team -- came in the exact same year. Noel was an absolute star -- the best college player in the country before his tragic injury and an absolute beast especially on the defensive end. WCS could play decent defense but was frequently out of position and got backup minutes. Fastfoward two years and Noel has had a breakout season playing on one of the worst teams in the league playing with a motley crew whereas WCS has played on the college team with the most talent in the country and has looked, at best, like a defensive stalwart and and offensive work in progress despite playing virtually every game against inferior talent.
I don't see it -- I don't see it at all. The comparison of Noel to WCS is night and day. Its hard for me to understand why WCS is even considered a lottery pick in light of difficulty in picking up defensive schemes and his issues on the offensive end. Yeah, he is a hard worker and he has developed since that first year sitting on the bench and watching Noel -- but as someone who has watched him a lot over the last three years, I have no interest in having him as a lottery pick.

Even in this he improved. His volume of threes and shots within 5 feet increased with less emphasis on the midrange shot, 2 out of 3 of the most efficient shots in the game.

Right now it will be all about the workouts. I want Mario. This team needs shooting badly. Defensively we just need to learn how to play team defense. That will be on the coach.

Standing reach has to be the most sandbagged stat in basketball. There is no way that a guy who is half an inch taller with 1.25 inches in wingspan, has a standing reach 2.5 inches lower. I read an article on DraftExpress about how players sandbag standing reach so their verts look better (the standing reach point is where they measure max reach vert from).
Article here: http://www.draftexpress.com/article/NBA-Measurements-and-How-They-Hold-Up-Over-Time-4965/
Line about sandbagging... "One other interesting trend is the huge gains a few players enjoyed in their standing reaches. Considering those gains came with significant drops in the vertical leaps and no discernable change in their height or wingspan, it makes one wonder if they sand-bagged the standing reach test during the pre-draft process in order to improve their maximum vertical reach mark, since their reach creates the baseline for that test. Perhaps more attention needs to be paid to this element of the athletic testing?"

Winslow is built more like a guard than a forward, he is built just like Lance Stephenson
