I'm iffy on trading jennings. I'm enamored with the vision of having 2 starting caliber pg's on the team, but landing two starting players in the draft, and still having a ton of cap space is also intriguing.KCP5 wrote:Dream scenario draft Winslow/Johnson

Re: 2015 Pistons draft (poll)
im going with Kaminski. ive been bouncing back and forth between Johnson and Kaminski and right now im leaning Kaminski. I think Kaminskis offense will really help to allow Dre and Reggie to do their thing, and I think he has the bball iq and enough mobility to play adequate defense at the 4.
Winslow would be my first choice. I love Hezonjas offensive skillset and potential, but this locker room isnt ready for another prima donna yet. theyre just starting to build a positive culture and I worry about what adding a guy like Hezonja would do to it, otherwise hed be at the top of the list, even above Winslow.

I agree i was just working with theory of give something to get something. Maybe next years 1st and a future second might be enough to get it done. Hopefully we can push 40 wins and a playoff birth next season so the pick would be around 15

Booker for me as of now. He is a willing defender, has a high bball IQ, solid potential, fits the system. He will be a solid role player right away.

It's no secret I like Portis and voted for him but since most of you are picking SFs I'll give my two cents there. I would take super Mario simply because at worst his shooting will translate if nothing else.

I picked Hez, but I'll still be elated if he's off the board and we end up with Stanley.
Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

Glad to see the majority of this board realizes Stanley should be the pick

Re: 2015 Pistons draft (poll)
i would be happy with any of:
Karl-Anthony Towns
Justice Winslow
Stanley Johnson
Kristaps Porzingis
probably in that order, too.

2015 Pistons draft (poll)
zeebneeb wrote:I really don't understand this Booker thing either. We have two glaring holes, and people want another SG? If that's the case, what's your plan to fill sf, and pf? Trades and free agency? Confused.
x2
The 2 greatest positions of need are sf and pf. The only way I can comprehend the choice is if they believe KCP can fill the 3, in which case I still think it's foolish

Pretty sure KCP gonna be nothing more than a 2nd or 3rd string SG in his career. So while SG is not a "glaring need," it is still a position of need. Booker's jumpshot looks a lot more smooth than KCP's.

Re: 2015 Pistons draft (poll)
I just think it's a mistake to draft for need. That's what free agency is for. The thing that appeals about Booker is a) he fits and b) he's exceptional in an area that we are lacking.
I get not drafting a shooting guard when we have two on the team but if we're looking long term, Meeks has what one more year on his contract after this year, and while I really like kcp, if he stagnates offensively we're gonna need someone who will be a part of our core going forward.

Re: 2015 Pistons draft (poll)
I'm going with Kristaps Porzingis. That guy's skillset on offense is nuts for his size. Matchup nightmare that you can't gameplan for type stuff... that's if he's the real deal or reaches his potential, but that's the case with everyone right? Might be too much of a project for us though if he seems to raw, I'm sure SVG wants to win now.
The SFs have been picked apart so bad, I'm just ehhh on them. I think I can be talked into Mario Hezonja, his jumpshot is legit, but the attitude and the no FTAs... I also need to warm back up to Stanley Johnson I used to like him more a defender on the perimeter is great, but man I need my SF to be able to finish at the basket against players he's physically superior than, that's ridiculous and NBA players aren't any smaller.

Re: 2015 Pistons draft (poll)
i don't understand why people think that drafting booker means that we've given up on KCP. so we're not allowed to have two good young SG's on the team? KCP's strength is his defense on the perimeter, and booker's strength is his uncanny ability to spread the court.
i get it, we already have meeks, but for how long? he could be a decent trade chip down the road, and KCP and booker could form quite the 2-guard tandem in the future. i'm not saying the booker should be the clear-cut choice at 8, but to take him out of the picture just because we have a couple decent guards on the team is extremely naive and shortsighted.

Re: 2015 Pistons draft (poll)
Got to go with Porzingis. He may not help us next year as much as others, but he could (seriously) become another Dirk. Seriously. You have to take a chance with that. I trust SVG and crew will fill SF and PF in free agency with established players. And maybe a trade or two. So don't mix up next year's improvement with long term stars.

Re: 2015 Pistons draft (poll)
I would think that's obvious. We have no sf's save for Caron butler. We also, when Moose departs need a pf.jakebernat wrote:i don't understand why people think that drafting booker means that we've given up on KCP. so we're not allowed to have two good young SG's on the team? I mean who wouldn't want a great tandem at every position?
The only sg I would take, in this draft at 8, is D'Angelo. Anything else would be silly.
Or you think we are getting better by losing moose, having no replacement, and starting caron?
I know we have free agency looming, but most are restricted, and the draft allows us to add another young piece, to a really solid starting core of reggie, pope, and drummond. I want these players to grow with each other. It could be amazing.

Gotta agree with zeeb on this one,we already have 2 sg,that dosent need to be filled right now and we have legit holes at 3-4.I would much rather run with kcp/meeks this year, see what they bring.
