If they wanted to play poker ... Take Russell at 2 and package him plus 27/34 for 3 (Mudiay) and Noel. Works for Phili if Saric comes over

Perhaps we may get a Marc or DJ etc. one of those guys must want to play for the Lakers, as our future Is looking bright no matter what the haters may say. Then drafting Russell would make sense. I'm not much into College hoops, just wondering if the dude is legit.

Forget everything I've said so far, draft Porzingis.

I'd rather have Russell than Porzingis.

Holy ****, that length, athleticism and shooting stroke. I don't usually take too much stock into choreographed workouts but this is something else. If he develops his physique like he should with pro nutrition and workouts, his potential is insane.

He looks very thin though.

He's 7'1 with strong help defense tendencies, he just needs more strength to play center.

Porzingis reminds me of Keith Van horn

Admittedly he has big time potential....just don't want to risk it when we have the second pick, and there are a few surefire guys you can't go wrong with, and know they are the real deal

For every Dirk/Pau there are dozens of euro guys who didn't pan out for various reasons....if we were to stay at 4th ...different discussion

Bigmen must rebound ... unless you have other designated guys to pick up the slack.

If a big can't rebound, he's basically Tim Tebow. You've got to build "around" them to cover up their unusual weaknesses.

If we made a promise to Russell, this FO isn't as slow as I thought they were.

I personally think he's just trying to force his way to NY. Nobody in their right mind wants to play for that Philly franchise right now I'd imagine.

Liking pics on social media in a certain jersey doesn't really mean much at all.

Dream scenario:

First move: Draft Russell and trade with 76ers. 27th pick, swaggy p, Russell for Covington, 37th and okafor. We free space and get a quality 3 on a cheap contract.

Second move: trade okafor, 37th pick for Tim Hardaway jr. And porzingis. New York has been looking for a second round pick and they get a solid big.

Third move: convince Marc Gasol to sign with this awesome team.

Fourtg move: sign rondo for no more than 8 mill a year and Paul pierce for leadership. Rondo and pierce will have best chance to win here.

Final move: pay thibs to be a assistant coach

Rondo
Kobe
Pierce
Poz
Gasol

Clarson/hardaway/Covington/randle/dalembert Off the bench

If we have money for guys like damare c, Tristan thomas, I hope we get them.

One discussion to start is who will give us something we value for s&t hill and/or lin

They dictate workouts from every aspect to when, what time, what location and who can be present. They run the show, and the media and average fans don't know how to deal with it other than to just speculate outrageous trade concepts and conspiracies.

Agents and shoe companies to a degree will dictate where their client plays, they're the ones who float whatever information the media gets. But when I see chumps like Chad Ford or Sheridan trying to predict what players are on teams draft boards I bust out laughing, they have no way in hell in knowing this information....yet they continue to speculate.

My thinking has always been this...if we draft Okafor or Towns, this means we'll search for guards in free agency. If we draft Russell or Mudiay, means the team will search for bigs in free agency....and they better have a damn good plan in place for that one or else we'll be for a decade long rebuild.

This is true, but it still doesn't mean Mitch is done evaluating these players. It was him and 5 other FO staffers at this workout. If it's as easy as Okafor and Towns, then why bring that much staff? For weeks I've heard Mitch go out of his way to mention "the 2 players from Europe" as potentials.

Would Porzingis have to really wow them to gain an edge on Towns or Okafor? Absolutely, but that's exactly what makes it not clearcut. Porzingis is actually a 7 footer, unlike the other bigs at the top of the draft. In that workout his shooting looks on par or better than Towns, especially because they're not flatfooted shots.

His athleticism looked surprising to me, his head was at the rim in most of those dunks. He's more spry than a guy like Pau. Skinny, but spry.

I trust Mitch's judgement, but until we make a pick, I'm going to wish I had access to all the scouting reports he's had.
Well I wasn't really talking about Porzingis, I was talking about the process as a whole in terms of workouts and how the process is dominated by the agents and shoe reps.

In terms of Porzingis...Mitch has got to know the fan base isn't going for that. An unknown product that you can't market and who knows how long before the kid develops ? That ship has sailed....who was the last Euro player that just ripped the league ?

If that's his plan...I mean it's already hard enough to even imagining that he would take a guard, when two franchise type bigs can help build up this team a lot faster.

from ginobili (not euro but int'l) to marc gasol, with pau, dirk, and yao inbetween, all have been owning the league....as a matter of fact, pau and dirk are for sure the best PF's alongside duncan/kg in the last 15 years.
yao was the best center since shaq, marc gasol is the best center in the league right now and he was a 2nd round pick.

then you have guys who have still had better careers than your average nba draft prospect-- andrei kirilenko, rudy fernandez, jose calderon, and now even matthew dellavedova. Don't forget Nikola Mirotic either, he's a baller.
if i were to compare your average NCAA prospect to your average international prospect, and I had to "guesstimate" a pick , id probably go with the international prospect, unless of course, the NCAA prospect was a big deal like Lebron or Wiggins.

porzingis ceiling is not dirk imo.

his frame and skillset looks a lot like bargs...pencil thin, lanky kid, with a sweet J. He would get bullied in the league for quite a few years until he grows more into his body.

Plan b, if knocks don't want to trade and we can't get gasol:

do first move

Sign damare and triston and rondo
