Hopefully no big deal. Sometimes things like this don't go according to plan. He's young, your team has time. An immediate return would be so much more fun, but a delayed start could still lead to a strong finish.

Crap news on Embiid, sorry. I'm curious, you would go Porzingis over Okafor at three if lets say Lakers go guard with two?
Porzingis momentum is seriously strong right now.

Oh good, the whiny part of the fan base has something to post about. Always good, especially before any detailed information comes out.
I rather the Sixers strikeout then hit singles and doubles. Another Jrue Holiday, Andre Iguodala, Evan Turner, Elton Brand and Spencer Hawes team winning 45 wins does nothing for me.

TBH I'm down with BPA, I don't follow collegiate play or international play, I'll trust Hinkie & co. KP6 looks nice though off the little I've seen.

Uh oh, Embiid suffers setback per Woj
This sucks obviously.
At least it wasn't a reinjuring of the foot with additional damage and pain.
It really puts into perspective why you take Okafor if he is there though. You just operate as if Embiid will not be healthy. Porzingis could be the pick if Hinkie really likes him too.
Fingers crossed for Joel.
This may be, and hopefully is, nothing much and is just them being conservative, but now I will be panicked until I hear good news.

I think Woj might have found out about it and gave Sixers a heads up that he was going to run the article, so they would have time to get a press release ready. It's a not uncommon gesture of good will by a reporter, especially a pro like Woj.
We'll see about all this. The fact that he isn't in pain is good. Lot of time before the season starts.

I can't see Porzingis being taken before Okafor, but maybe before Russell.

Interesting. Don't know, I thought the plan has all been to go guard, not sure this is enough to alter that plan. But do agree about Okafor over Porzingis.

Re: Uh oh, Embiid suffers setback per Woj
If you remember to when Hinkie drafted Embiid he said that Embiid would have to pass certain levels to progress to the next step. Hinkie has experience with Yao. I think Hinkie has a certain bone recovery point in order for Embiid to play basketball. I just want to hear what Hinkie says to us about this. I DEMAND HINKIE HOLD AN EMERGENCY PRESS CONFERENCE TOMORROW TO DISCUSS ALL THINGS EMBIID OR HE SHOULD BE FIRED ON THE SPOT LOL.

No, plan was to get the player that can be a superstar regardless of needs.

Sure, that's what I'm hoping is Phil's plan in NY, but we have no clue with this guy.
So this doesn't change the plan at all, right? And who is that star in this case, Porzingis or Okafor?

Think the plan is & has been to go BPA, until there's a set superstar/franchise player, & as long as the team is picking in the lottery; I think Hinkie will continue to go BPA. It was convenient that Russ seemed like he'd be BPA a 3, after Kat & Oak, & happened to be a position of need. Now that KP6 is seems to have shot up, BPA is not as clear anymore, I dare say IMO (which isn't worth much seeing as I only follow NBA basketball) that KP6 maybe, POSSIBLY surpassing Russ.
From what I've seen & know which is limited, I wouldn't be upset at either. Then again at 3 I'd be happy with Kat, Oak, KP6, Russ, or Mudiay... I think currently I'd go big man, one of the 3, think they have the highest ceilings in the draft.

Re: Uh oh, Embiid suffers setback per Woj
Embiid had been expected to participate with Sixers' summer league teams in July, but that could jeopardized now, sources said. For now, it is too soon to tell how long Embiid will be kept out.
Embiid had surgery for a stress fracture in his foot several days before the 2014 draft, and the Sixers ultimately decided for him to sit out the entirety of his rookie season. Eyewitness accounts of Embiid's workouts in recent weeks in Southern California described dominant, explosive performances, offering a glimpse into the kind of potential that could have had Embiid selected first overall in the 2014 draft. He had been the dominant player in the predraft process after playing one season at Kansas.

For the record I would rather have an injured Embiid over a healthy Exum or Randle or Vonleh or Stauskas or Smart. Drafting Embiid was the right move last year. You swing for the fences.

Hinkie is going to go best player available. Who he thinks that is, who the hell knows.

Re: Uh oh, Embiid suffers setback per Woj
When Hinkie talks about 'optionality', this is the reason. A single, straight line plan can't deal with something like a top draft pick failing (worst case scenario obviously), but all of those assets and picks are stockpiled for a reason. Options. It allows the team to take risks in guys like Noel and Embiid and still have backup options in place.
If Embiid was in perfect health and Okafor fell to us I would pick him, so for me any possible Embiid set back does not change things from my point of view. Until the team is much closer to being set with several established young veterans it will be BPA and asset acquisition as priorities, not fit.
It is weird for this news to come out on a Saturday evening, the conspiracy theorist in me says they knew about it before today and it ties in with the sudden talk about bringing Saric over to bolster the front line.

My guess is Porzingis. Advanced stats favors defensive big man. Porzingis also has a higher upside due to his athleticism. Also seems like a good fit for Noel and Joel.
Personally Porzingis is second on my board after Towns. But was leaning to draft Mudiay because of needs and I personally think in 2-3 seasons, both Porzingis and Mudiay would have improved their flaws (physique and shooting), so margin of difference for upside seems small.

I think if Okafor is there at 3, Hinkie will take him. Over anyone but Towns. Can't know Hinkie's board for sure, though.
