It would only add about $4 million to the payroll, and you'd still have room for a couple of eight-figure FAs. I'm thinking if you do that, you draft WCS at 7, sign two FAs like Monroe and Matthews, and go with WCS/Monroe/Melo/Matthews/Lawson. Thoughts?
Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell No!
We're under ZERO obligation to make Denver a better team by letting them draft 4th overall. Lawson didn't fit well in Brian Shaw's offense, and now we want to square peg round hole him into the triangle? Well done
If the Nuggest want to rid themselves of Lawson they can workout a deal with the Kings for all I care. I have no interest in dropping 3 spots in the draft just to get rid of Jose Calderon. That $4m will be a drop in the bucket compared to the increased capspace we'll have next year when the cap shoots up to ~$90m, plus (I cannot stress this enough) at the end of this season Calderon becomes a trade asset-expiring contract.
