I have to admit that Ive always liked Joe and despite his age he's still very effective

too much iso play for my taste but a guy like him might put us over the top once we add a true big man

Johnson, West and Monroe along with Gallo/jose/grant and Melo? not a bad starting unit

How you signing Monroe and West and THEN absorbing Johnson's $24m?

Beats the hell out of me but it'd be worth doing

Would be impossible, is the point.

Not hard or difficult or unlikely, but literally impossible.

15 for monroe
5 for West

that leaves us with 12 mil I think

move Jose and his 7 plus Acy and his 3 or whatever it is and were at 22 which is close enough for a trade

just sayin

possible, he might not want to play for minnesota either, so he gave them a list of teams he would play for and they are trying to work out a trade. Give them a TPE, the right to thanasis, and a future 2nd rounder?

would that get it done...who knows..

Why would West opt out of 12M per year to take 5M?

No one really knows what's going on, but all of the local media guys have said it's a done-deal that he's coming to MN; and Flip said last week that he'd be a top 10 pick if he were in the draft (see link). I can't see him saying something like that to the local fans only to turn around and trade him for what is essentially nothing. We'll know soon enough.

flip could just be saying that to build up his trade value. Who knows though. We will just have to wait and see.

No ONE is counting Acy when calculating the KNicks have $27 in cap space.

Good mix with a young big and a smart back court player that can hold his on on d, my thing with Greg is I think he will be best at pf, but the way we are building looks like he will be the starting center.

Makes me think Kris will be a 20-30 min player at both pf and center.

West Mathews is a very underrated SG will be a huge pick up on both sides on the court, I don't really see that much on him I guess that injury messed up his stock, maybe he takes a prove it year with Portland and cashes in next year.

Does being in New York City mean nothing anymore? Why aren't the big free agents "realistic" targets? We have nearly $30 million in cap space. Come on.

The injury and the fact that he wanted 15mil from the Blazers.

I like Wes Matthews but not willing to overpay for him, especially coming off an achilles injury

We were the only non playoff team thrown through the mud in the media, that goes a long way.

Not to mention equal or more money elsewhere along with better weather and less pressure. Who the hell would come here.

http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/knicks/post/_/id/62445/sources-knicks-to-meet-with-aldridge-jordan-in-l-a
New York Knicks brass will head to Los Angeles this week to meet with LaMarcus Aldridge and DeAndre Jordan, according to league sources.

The Knicks' contingent is believed to include president Phil Jackson, GM Steve Mills and head coach Derek Fisher.

With Wednesday being the first day teams are able to meet with free agents, both meetings are expected to be completed before Friday.

While the Knicks are considered long shots to land either Aldridge or Jordan, sources said they are in each player's top four.

Aldridge, who sources say is all but certain to leave Portland, will also meet with the San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers.

Jordan will also meet with the Mavs, Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers, according to sources.

Knicks star Carmelo Anthony has already called both players, as well as Greg Monroe and Arron Afflalo, sources said. The Knicks will also meet with Monroe this week and eventually will meet with Wesley Matthews.

New York's pitch to Jordan will be that he would be the team's second option behind Anthony, as opposed to the third option he currently is with the Clippers behind Chris Paul and Blake Griffin. Sources say that is an important distinction to Jordan.

The Knicks will also emphasize that in the Eastern Conference, the road to becoming an All-Star and a playoff team is much less clogged than in the West.
