Can we still get another player after signing those 2?

Does being in New York City mean nothing anymore? Why aren't the big free agents "realistic" targets? We have nearly $30 million in cap space. Come on.

If I was a free agent I would need a reason to come here (these guys are rich enough to just buy a summer home here to vacation they don't need to play for the Knicks). I hope having Phil and Fisher will change that.

New York Knicks brass will head to Los Angeles this week to meet with LaMarcus Aldridge and DeAndre Jordan, according to league sources.

The Knicks' contingent is believed to include president Phil Jackson, GM Steve Mills and head coach Derek Fisher.

With Wednesday being the first day teams are able to meet with free agents, both meetings are expected to be completed before Friday.

While the Knicks are considered long shots to land either Aldridge or Jordan, sources said they are in each player's top four.

Aldridge, who sources say is all but certain to leave Portland, will also meet with the San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers.

Jordan will also meet with the Mavs, Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers, according to sources.

Knicks star Carmelo Anthony has already called both players, as well as Greg Monroe and Arron Afflalo, sources said. The Knicks will also meet with Monroe this week and eventually will meet with Wesley Matthews.

New York's pitch to Jordan will be that he would be the team's second option behind Anthony, as opposed to the third option he currently is with the Clippers behind Chris Paul and Blake Griffin. Sources say that is an important distinction to Jordan.

The Knicks will also emphasize that in the Eastern Conference, the road to becoming an All-Star and a playoff team is much less clogged than in the West.

Jordan is a long shot unless he wants a 3 yr deal with the last year being a player option.

No, I've been to other big cities though. And none of them can compare to NYC.

I'm from NY but like I said these guys are rich so they can still live here in the off season. The city will not be what brings free agents it will be the money or a chance at winning a ring. right now all we have is money.

this makes no sense to me either. They can't seriously be pitching that. Other than opponents putting him on the FT line a lot was he even a third option in LA?

Would you trade Calderon for Jamal Crawford? You could waive Crawford before July 1 and only pay him 1.5M, saving the Knicks about 6M.

Andre Miller anybody? Veteran presence at PG. Played with Melo. Can post up. Shot 50% last year (per Chris Herrig.

Deal. Assuming the Clips pick up Crawford's team option, he'll make $5,675,000 next season. Calderon is making $7,402,812 so we'd gain nearly $2 million in additional cap room

Then do this to get a veteran presence at PG. I assume he would be very inexpensive. How about $2 million?

There, I just traded Jose Calderon for Jamal Crawford and Andre Miller while maintaining our cap space. Nice working with both of you.

That's not true. NYC is still the greatest city in the world. However, players clearly don't love it enough to give up money or a better shot at winning.
