Is that enough defense though? I don't trust an old West as our defensive anchor.

In the other lineup, Monroe/Biyombo would be terrible for spacing. I think we got Porzingis to put next to Monroe (or Deandre even). It makes so much sense. West would work as a stop gap until then, but we'd need another defensive big coming off the bench.

That's not true. NYC is still the greatest city in the world. However, players clearly don't love it enough to give up money or a better shot at winning.

The greatest financial city in the world. straight up greastest is relative to who is doing the judging.

I could be smoking weed but what are the chances if Cleveland doesnt do what Lebron wants that Wade and LBJ join
Carmelo in NY?

I've been all over the world and can say with full confidence that your opinion is trash. If you have not done so already, please leave the city ASAP.

FREE AGENT/Trade/Transaction Idea thread

Post#5092 » by nayyyyyyyyo09 » Tue Jun 30, 2015 6:02 am

Wow, earlier I wasn't trying to stir something up. I was just stating my opinion. But I'm serious, I heard that afflalo might be getting 10-15 mil a year in NY and that's the type of stuff I was talking about. Not to mention getting a good center will be tough with out overpaying. Look at Marcin gortat... He's being way overpaid. I can't understand why someone would pay so much for a center like that. Btw, biyambo is my kind of guy and if NY doesn't sign him I want Denver to. He's the kind of guy you can sign to a 4 year deal and not a big one and develop his offense a bit. He had outrageous block per game in 36 minute stats and although he's a bit short, you get more height from porzingus. Would you guys know knowing how the draft worked out done a trade of Kenneth Faried and #7 for the #4? That would have secured you Mudiay and Faried rather than just porzingus and you could have taken someone else rather than jerian later on.

Any realistic chance of trading for Splitter? Spurs will be keen to offload his contract for LMA and he's way cheaper than some of the guys we're targeting.

Tiago Splitter averages 8ppg and 5rpg and costs over $8m per year for the next two years.

He puts up about half of what Monroe does in more than half of his minutes, and at more than half of his cost, so you can pretty easily make the argument that he's MORE expensive than Monroe, when factoring production in.

You are hearing that from **** Afflalo's AGENT.
No one is paying Afflalo that much money.

He's a $6-$9mil a year player at the maximum.

Monroe is a million times better the Splitter.

This thread title should be altered to Trade/Transaction only so all free agency talks can be moved to the Summer 2015 edition.
I will only cherish the wins and ignore everything else, because that's the only way to survive as a Knicks fan.

to be honest i dont want LMA. Of course he is a great player, but I dont think he'd be the best fit with melo and he's already 29 years old. Would rather target Monroe and a rim protector or try to trade calderon and target some of the solid ball handlers in this FA class including Dragic (unlikely), Knight (unlikely), Ellis, Lin.
