I would be surprised if he doesn't get at least what Mirotic got. The Rubio contract is looking better by the minute.

Some of the pre draft stuff flip was saying drove me crazy like preferring okafor and calling Bjelica Robbie Hummel I think it was lol. Turns out he knows what he's doing and just laying down the smoke screens in case there was any leverage to gain. Looks like he got some out of the Bjelica camp when really he wanted to draft towns and sign bjelica all along.

I'm mostly sold; I think they would have been competitive last year if they were healthy. Now they've upgraded the interior defense immensely, got a true point at the backup 1, and the young core is a year older and hopefully wiser.

If they aren't competitive, I'd imagine it's because of injuries as usual.

It trully was a great start of the season, they looked fresh and engaged, but it also was a very small sample. I think you need those veterans especially for a long season where you're 100% going to have some low moments, that's what increases your chances in close games and gives you consistency through a season. Otherwise, with so much youth and so many games in a short span it's just too easy to get into a bad streak of results and see your winning percentage take a serious dip.

That's something I'd really like to see change, at least with 1 or 2 solid veterans, and that's why I'm actually hoping for the Knicks to offer us something valuable for Bjelica (a protected future pick maybe) and us landing a different player with NBA experience.

I'd like to see bjelicia come in and have a moritic type impact. Very comparable stats. N.M is a better shooter but N.B is more of a play maker. I predict if given the same minutes as N.M (20) bjelicia will have similar stats. Prob 8-10ppg, 5-6rbs, 2+ assists and hoping for some really good advanced stats. like N.M he could be in the rookie of the year talk ( assuming healthy class probably not a serious contender)

Bjelica must be one of the best rebounders in Europe with 12.3 per 40.

EDIT: He's the 2nd best behind the dominating Boban Marjanovic

Do you think we will have to wait until they can actually sign to get confirmation that it is happening? Or will be agreed upon and "leaked" like all of these other deals.

Happening, maybe, but no price tag. Maybe I should've been more specific. Years and price are what I'm curious about.

I don't know how legit this site is:

Fenerbahce opted out of Nemanja Bjelica making him unrestricted free agent.
The Serbian forward is headed to the Timberwolves where he will likely pen a three-year, $12 million contract.

What part are you questioning? The 3/12? That was originally posted here: http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/238432/Nemanja-Bjelica-Timberwolves-Discuss-Three-Year-Deal-While-Exploring-Options

Haven't seen it anywhere else.

If his rights was owned by a team like Heat,Lakers or Bulls, he will be hyped like Mirotic.
And to get him under 5 mil/year,with the booming cap and teams throwing money at role players, is amazing

I'm not ready to say that is definitely what his contract will be. If it is, great. But don't be caught off-guard if we give him more than that.

To be honest, Mirotic was more interesting as a 23 yo prospect last summer than Bjelica is at 27 (actually Mirotic was more interesting at 23 than Bjelica was at 23 as well). Different players, different potential, different excitement.

I'd be fine with giving him the MLE. Anything less than that is just gravy.

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
