Nah that just seems like half-assing it. Pekovic isn't really better than Monroe in any appreciable way, he's older, he's injury-prone, and he's a black hole which is the main deal-killer for me.

I believe that after not even getting in the room with Gasol/Aldridge/Jordan (not my taste), we should just sign a Koufos/KOQ/Ajinca/Wright type who can at least be a quality 3rd big with starter upside, for a cheap and reasonable contract. Then spend the rest on a shooter.

But we seem committed to making a splash, and Monroe is probably the most talented guy reasonably available to us. And he's only 24. I wish he could shoot and his post game is a little overrated but I see how he could grow into a really good fit.

pekovic would be a terrible idea because of the injury concerns anyway. I meant it more tongue in cheek.

my vote is to be a faciliatator. I vote we use our space to facilitate other teams trying to sign this uninspiring cast. the coup of the summer would be to get a Len or Adams for example. maybe that's unreasonable and those guys aren't on the table but that's what id be all in on right now. id be on the phone with the big boys and win now teams trying to take on contracts. absolute worst case situation we roll with zaza/Henson/plumlee again. im not even sure if Monroe or lopez even improves that bunch quite frankly.

If you're referring to his TS% he doesn't draw fouls or take many of his shots at the rim. His RAPM numbers are consistently good though even on offense IIRC. Happy Hibbert was awesome, current Hibbert is still a good player.

You use Hibbert situationally like the Warriors did with Bogut. Would work fine here. I'm still not sure where in this defense Monroe fits as far as guarding the post and rotating out to trap the guy with the ball.

We could likely absorb Hibbert's contract right now assuming the cap is that $1 to $2 million higher as projected.

If we're taking on Hibbert and his dead money were asking for Paul George too

Does that account for Hibbert being the softest player to ever play NBA basketball?

Still a much better defender than Monroe.

You have to feed Hibbert the ball early and often for him to get his rhythm, but nobody wants to because he turns it over a lot, but if you don't he pouts. If he doesn't get foul calls early he goes into a funk and doesn't get back on D and then his teammates shut him out when he starts getting on them etc, fans start riding him and he shuts down, dude is a glass case of emotion.

I don't believe Monroe is a must get......the most important thing by far for the Bucks is Parker, not only staying healthy, but making a significant jump.

Not related... could do a D-Lee trade & match Tobias have the cap cash to absorb Lee, and have Bird Rights on Tobias Steve Kyler added,
Fatherfirst @SECoop3013
@stevekylerNBA Orlando's next move, wait for a Tobias offer or make another move for a PF? #magic #davidlee

I know it's just an idea, but Tobes to GSW would be pretty awesome.

Yep.

Really don't get the Monroe love. I suspect most of it is the ole basic boxscore double double thing. The more things change the more they stay the same. If Zaza traded his jumper and some defensive awareness for some post game he'd be Monroe. I don't see the allure there even if he wasn't being paid $13 million a year more.

For prefering Hibbert to Monroe? Nah that's just common sense.

They're both pretty mediocre but Hibbert has a top tier ability to fall back on and a jumper that extends the defense outside of 5 feet. Monroe's offensive ability outside of his good hands are wildly overrated.

Do a statistical analysis for us of Monroe and the late Armen Gilliam. Seem similar to me from eye test recollection but not sure.

Nope. As I said Emo Hibbert is a decent player, engaged Hibbert is very good.

Rolo has had some interesting tweets including Bango in the last couple of weeks.
"Have you seen the movie, 'Like Mike?' Where he wears the shoes and is balling like Jordan? That's the
sleeve. Do it like Giannis."

Seems fair. Again, as I said originally his tools fit well with what we (Bucks board) think we need. Problem is that he's a giant tool.

Much rather him than Monroe though.

For the anti Monroe crowd-who could we realistically sign right now that would be a better asset?

Return to Milwaukee Bucks
