Getting rid of Blair could make some sense -- particularly if we could replace him with someone like Withey or Aldrich. Hell, even Seraphin, Amundson and Amare are better options.
You actually wouldn't need or want to stretch Blair. The first thing you'd do is approach him about a buyout -- make it clear to him that he's not playing, and see if his freedom is worth anything to him. If he's not willing to play ball, just cut him outright. We'll need every dollar cap space we can get our hands on next summer. I don't want $666K in dead money from stretching Blair to complicate things.
Know what I think?
Start Blair at PF. Force teams to get him off the offensive boards. Start Wall, Beal, and Porter along with Gortat and Blair.
Gortat is fast for a center. Blair's deficiency in mobility is not so bad that he cannot still have 20 point/20 rebound games.
Blair is and always has been better than Seraphin.
The 95% of fans who think Blair isn't any good are wrong.
The same people who want Blair traded cannot understand how adding two or three wings too many will produce diminished returns on what should be left alone. Otto Porter is a SF. Every added wing is just another player who takes minutes from Porter at his best position.
I anticipate arguments about how bad Blair is. They will ONLY USE HIS WIZARD STATS. They will ignore playoffs over many different seasons. They're not going to address Blair already starting at PF, not C, on much better teams than Washington. Yes, Blair is foul prone. But so is Seraphin.
To me, it is pretty obvious that Blair is still young, Blair is still signed to a great deal; AND THE WIZARDS WILL NEVER, EVER, EVER TRY THIS LINEUP:
Wall, Beal, Porter, Dudley, Blair
Sometimes I may use an attention step to just get one original thought out there. (Porter is the best SF prospect despite the many wings added).
Bonus thought: Why on earth would you trade Blair, when he's young, cheaply signed, and very capable of producing at PF or C?
