The Clippers are tougher this year. We have Lance and Pierce. Gonna be a tough year, but we now can throw down with the best. Remember, Pierce loves hearing boos. All the DJ hate may actually extend his career and force the Clips to grow up as a team.

The thing that really bothers me about this is the way he refused to see Cuban or take his calls. After he promised them a face to face to discuss his decision.

The whole changing his mind thing sucks, but if he got cold feet, then we are better off not signing him if his heart wasn't in it.

But to disrespect people who put their trust and faith in you by ignoring/hiding from them like this. That's not the way for a man to handle his business.

When Jordan shows up at the AAC, the Mavs fans should give him what he gave Cuban. Silence. He doesn't deserve the effort of boos.

What the NBA needs to do is change the memorandum. July 1st - July 8th UFA players can shop their "rights" to prospective teams, where they effectively become RFA's after agreeing. After July 8th contracts are signed.

So for example. July 1st hits. DeAndre and the Mavs meet, and DeAndre signs over his rights to the team. They can now negotiate a contract. But Jordan changes his mind and wants to return to the Clippers. But Dallas owes his rights. So in order to return, the Clips must now negotiate with Dallas on basically a reverse S&T OR Dallas retains the right to match any contract Jordan receives from another team.

arkuo wrote:Serious question over here. But cant owners maximize a loophole in the system? Say an owner pays 5 superstars the minimum amount to have them play together for trophies. Then pay them $100 million dollars annually when they retire at 35 til they're 50. Retirement years arent covered by the NBA.

How could the superstar trust the owners? If the owner goes "Haha, I'm not going to pay you" when they turn 35, it's not like they can go "Hey, this guy didn't fulfill his end of the completely shady if not outright illegal deal I made with him!"
But do you know what they call a fool, who's full of himself and jumps into the path of death because it's cool?

This is a free country and he has the right to choose where he wants to play. But that was such a b*tch move on his part, now the Mavs are left scrambling to fix their roster. This was such a PATHETIC, but SMART move by the Clippers and Doc Rivers though,i must admit. Never really cared for the Clippers, but if any of their 'star' players blow out a knee or 2, i wont care, might just even crack a smile.. Mavs fans, don't worry, some good will come out of this. What goes around, comes around. Karma is a b*tch.

It seems some Laker fans simply don't understand. First of all, it wasn't only Cuban. It was also Gilbert. Secondly, Stern vetoed it because he, as the commissioner, owned the Hornets back then and as every owner, he has every right to veto a trade if he thinks his team gets screwed over. Seriously, somehow it feels some Laker fans have the opinion to be entitled to get a superstar player for a bag of chips. Just because they're the Lakers. They royally screwed the league with that Gasol-trade and then they thought they could do the same stuff again with Paul.

And finally, whilst neither DJ not the Clippers did anything wrong legally, ethically it was a complete blow job. And that's the major reason why many basketball fans, not only Mavs-fans, are upset.

Amen.

When will Laker fans finally understand this. The League owned the team and had the right to veto anything they believed to not be in the teams interest.

who care dude about what the **** Lakers fans think ? This is nothing against Mavs fans.

as for the bolded part It's still Cuban, and Cuban eat his own medicine.

and lol at Pau trade. Grizz basically got Gasol and Zach from that trade and because of them, Grizzliez still relevant until this day.

Then why Cuban( and Gilbert) didn't shut up about that ? Like what Jim Buss doing right now, just shutup.

Lol, mentioning Marc now is the dumbest excuse ever. It was absolutely unforeseeable how he would develop. Good for the Grizz that he did, but the use this as an argument to justify the Pau-trade in retrospective and pretend that it looks even is beyond silly.

And Cubes got his own medicine? The situation is a complete different one.

the implication still same. They failed to get a player that they think 100% would come.

Lakers gave away one of the brightest talent in Spain, and huge expiring in Kwame, then they convert it to get Zach Randolph in free agency. That's not dumb excuse, only haters think so. Grizz treadmilling and Pau got huge and long contract, the logical step was to move him, you can't always get fair trade for star. Love for Wigginz and Bennet only happen once in a bluemoon.

again, it's nothing against Mavs fans, and i hope Cuban can shut his mouth up when another team is in trouble.

At the time Marc was fresh off being a 2nd round pick. Pau was a 27 year old bonafide superstar. Name me another trade where a superstar was traded with the other teams main pieces being a guy that was drafted in the 40s 6 months prior, and an expiring
