Robert Upshaw to the Lakers, conspiracy theory
Its the Lakers so I wouldn't rule it out. Its either desperate to suspicious how they jumped on him quickly after the draft and then signed him quickly after 10 minutes of summer league play.
And his stock fell because of a rumor of a heart problem, which is not even mentioned since. Media can be a very valuable tool to spread bad rumors

Have the Lakers ever done this before? This idea that they would spread false information to get someone is wrong - especially because other teams could have their own team doctors do tests on him and get the same thing. Lastly, it wasn't a rumor -- he was FLAGGED AT THE COMBINE. That is legit.

Even despite that he was still predicted to be a late first rounder or early second rounder. The guy is saying his so called rumor of the "cardiovascular problem" is what dropped him out of the draft. Imo Lakers are either very desperate or rigged it as this guy says because they signed the guy immediately after the draft then gave him a contract immediately after summer league. It is kinda weird when you think about it

This is clearly going to go the same way as a debate with someone who believes Earth is only 3000 years old. People can, and usually will, believe the dumbest ****.

Well weird thing is, why did Lakers sign him so quickly to a 2-year partially guaranteed contract? Thats kinda risky with it being guaranteed

Stop using LOGIC. Do you want to hurt somebody?

I remember 11-30 with these guys. ^

Because they liked what he saw and is a low risk high reward player? How is this even an idea...?

Why did Oklahoma City sign Jeff Green so quickly? Hell, why'd they draft him in the first round?
Clearly the Lakers also pulled off this dastardly plan back in the day with Ronny Turiaf, too. For their next trick, they're going for global domination, and they'll kick your cat, too.

Signing him for summer league right after the draft! Then giving him a guaranteed contract after playing 10 minutes? They wanted to lock him up fast

Like I said, low risk high reward player. Also, the deal is a partial guarantee for the first year and a non-guaranteed second year. Hardly a risk from a contract POV. He was given his contract after the first game because he showed flashes of what he can be. That's enough for a non-guaranteed deal. This is a terrible thread.

I bet this guy sticks, plays well and Lakers will have just picked up a good player from under everyone's eyes. I been watching this guy for a while for something like this to happen

Yes, cause of their long and sordid history of this kind of behavior...

dude has parttially guaranteed year 1 contract and unguaranteed second year contract. afaik it's also minimum contract. no risk at all. he acts funny -> waive him.

Then credit their FO, scouting, and willingness to take a flier on a player.

Only the Lakers, because they're known for this kind of stuff.
Hey, OP, can you remind us of all the Lakers past transgressions? I mean, since you seem so intimately familiar with the subject.

Agree, but I knew this was gonna happen because I was suspicious about this the whole time and I'm sure I'm going to be right
