Re: Robert Upshaw to the Lakers, conspiracy theory
So you're suggesting that Robert Upshaw was complicit in allowing (you allege) false rumours about his health destroy his draft stock so that he could land a summer league deal with L.A? Because that is what would have to happen - if the heart issue really was fabricated like you say, you would expect that he and his agent would have debunked the lie with a medical report prior to the draft. But instead he allowed all the other teams to believe it so that he could get a summer league invite.
Sounds legit.

Yeah it turns out Mitch was Upshaw's coke connect. And he also dressed up as a doctor during his medical checks. Mitch is on some Frank Underwood level of scheming

Next Gobert? Next Whiteside?
Nope, at best he's the next Keon Clark.
Guy is trouble. Talented, yes. But he is simply wired wrong. If you are a 7 foot shotblocker predicted to go in the lottery, you don't drop out of the draft altogether if you have even the smallest shot at holding it together.
He's a bum. More likely to end up in prison than the all star game.

what's he done to you so you hate on him? i'd much rather see him in all star games than his mug shot by new years eve. i don't get the negativity.
i might bookmark this post as well. i already have a few on mario hezonja.

Why is it personal? I just don't rate the chances of an undrafted coke head with attitude problems making the all star game very highly.
Would I rather he stayed out of prison and became a good player? Of course! But if I had to place my money anywhere, I know where it would be.

Re: Robert Upshaw to the Lakers, conspiracy theory
So its a consiparacy that 29 other teams failed to do their due dillegence to check up on a young big with monster potential?
The draft in general,is a big chess move with alot of deception. Teams lie about showing intrest in a particular player then they choose someone else. This was the case when lakers drafted bynum. All fingers pointed to them picking gerald green...but shocked everyone when bynum came out of nowhere.

Well weird thing is, why did Lakers sign him so quickly?
Because they liked what he saw and is a low risk high reward player? How is this even an idea...?
Signing him for summer league right after the draft! Then giving him a guaranteed contract after playing 10 minutes? They wanted to lock him up fast
Why are you spinning your own conspiracy...Players get signed up all the time right after the draft takes place.

Ridiculous theory. Upshaw looked really good in moments vs the wolves, but out of shape and a bit unstable. Big risk player, but if he holds it together he'll be a good addition for their team.

Re: Robert Upshaw to the Lakers, conspiracy theory
this is an un-drafted player, his is worth less than the change the cleaning crew will find in the seats at staples next season. why wouldn't the Lakers grab him after 10 minutes of play heart problems and all.

Even with all the red flags, someone was going to give the kid a shot, he was by all rights one of the top Center prospects in the draft. We'll just have to see how it works out.

I was thinking a more apt comparison would be Roy Tarpley

you called him a bum. you could've called his potential success as an nba player unlikely not call a man a bum. especially when he's working hard to straighten his path so he can be a successful individual. i commend that he wants to succeed. he is saying all the right things in interviews and loves being in the lakers uniform. do i think he's gonna make an all star in the west? hell no. in the east? hell no. do i put my money that he's a bum and gonna have more mug shots than points scored? hell **** no.
he took steps that were neccessary himself and hired a group of professionals to help him get better mentally and not to go to the path of a drug addict. he wants to quit and he wants to be an nba player. he has potential to be hibbert 2.0 that isn't soft and rebounds better.

I understand this. But IMO theres still a boatload more potential for getting in trouble with that type of stuff in L.A. as opposed to somewhere like Cleveland, Minnesota, Utah, Indiana, etc. L.A. has the biggest nightlife and party scene. When you live in LA and play pro sports, you'll have plenty of access to celebrities, entertainers, porn stars, etc that have all kinds of money and party all night long.
JR Smith recently said that It helped his game a lot recently getting out of N.Y. where he went out every night till the break of dawn, to being in Cleveland where theres nothing to do

Yeah I regretted it immediately after I posted. I just don't have a lot of patience with those kind of pointless cheap shots. It's the last you'll hear about it from me though. There's a reason my most visited site is realgm, I hate political discussions
