Lost in all this is that Hibbert waived most all of his trade bonus in order to facilitate this trade. That's only possible for him to do if waiving the trade bonus is absolutely required for the trade to work, which is why the Lakers signed Williams/Bass before announcing the trade. He ended up with $78k in bonus, while he was technically owed $2.325m, so he definitely played nice with both Indy and LA in order to help the trade go through.
Despite all his flaws, he was a great guy to have for 7 years. Without Roy, we simply wouldn't have competed in the Eastern Conference these last couple years as we did. We wouldn't have beaten the Knicks in the playoffs without Roy's posterization of Carmelo, nor taken the Heat to the brink without Roy's verticality in the playoffs. Don't forget the good things he did in the community, as well. Certainly hope he gets his confidence back, consistently, and wish him well the rest of his career. Certainly seemed like it was time for everyone to move on, though, especially with Myles Turner coming in here. Seems a lot like the whole "move Dale Davis to bring in Jermaine O'Neal" or "move Jermaine O'Neal to bring in Roy Hibbert" kind of moves. At least, let's hope.
