No, they do. It's all out there digitally somewhere. Most, if not all the carriers will give them to you but you have to ask in writing, not even electronically. You have to send a physical letter. Pay a fee and there is other criteria like the letter has to be a certain way and registered or something. Every text you've ever made can be retrieved depending on the extent and cost you want to go through.. and, of course, having the proper warrants, or subpoena and authority to demand them.

You're right about the NSA though.

and yeah, they have it too.. and so does the CIA, FBI, and Dept of Justice and Homeland Security. Not they are all monitoring all of our texts or anything, they aren't unless you are being watched or investigated. But, they all have access to it all.

Aside, I'm just thinking where the line of diminished returns is in fighting this all the way. Lurid sexual habit details getting reported in court and repeated on TMZ. A lot of what Derrick has going for his Q score and also his public face in general is the boy scout image. Maybe at some point, it is best to squash it with an undisclosed sum and let people draw their own conclusions. People would do that anyway. Of course, winning games is a great deodorent according to Madden.

Yep that is the issue. His sexual life is going to be out there for the public to judge and it won't be pretty. The first admittance by him or his team of him sharing this girl (or any girl)with his friends is going to turn a lot of people off.

Payoffs happen all the time. Not saying Derrick did this because I think he probably didn't. But his sexual life is going to be exposed. Bill O'Reilly did it (a payoff) and he moved on. His fans believed what they wanted to believe, and his detractors did as well. Others never noticed because it got squashed. It often gets forgotten in the backwash of history. But the more a public spectacle goes on.......

BTW, Im not advocating this. Only thinking out loud. Need to know more about things yet to occur, and how much mud does she has to fling

yeah, but derrick rose is not nearly as polarizing a figure as bill o'reilly. and even o'reilly's fans probably wouldn't put sexual harassment past him. nor is sexual harassment in the same league as what derrick is being accused of. hell, what kobe was accused of isn't even as bad as this accusation

If you're talking about text message content, I know for a fact you're wrong.

You could be right about the metadata of a text message but even with that info I believe it's purged within 60 days or so.

Edit: brief search online shows that phone companies vary in how long they keep text message metadata, from 60 days to 7 years.

Once upon a time, I liked Derrick Rose the way I sometimes decide to like sports figures who play on my favorite teams. I stopped liking Rose in this way a couple years ago.

This said, if anybody participates in a gang rape and the victim wants that person's money, I hope she gets that person's money...all of it. I'd like it even more if the gang rapist is never allowed on my streets again. Truth is that I wouldn't mind if the rapist just kinda died. I guess I just have a thing against rape in any form. Call me old fashioned.

If Rose didn't do anything wrong, I hope he has a good season for the Bulls.

I've tried to stay away from posting in this thread because it's a touchy subject. I feel if indeed true Rose and his friends should go to jail. With that said after reading the claim in detail I just don't buy it. I came away that she was Rose's side piece and was mad that she was getting kicked to the curb. Maybe information to make her story believable comes out but as of now I just don't buy it.

Personally, I know that I'm not going to have access to enough information on this situation to make any reasonable conclusions. I'm OK with letting the process work itself out.

There are lots of reasons she might not want to see Rose in jail. She had a relationship with Rose and knows his friends so its not like some random men gang raped her, if this happened. Maybe she feels she is to blame because if she was with Rose who was in a relationship and she knew it and she feels this wouldn't have happened if she stayed away from that (still doesn't justify rape if it happened), but she can still feel like she shouldnt send this man to jail and other men and take them away from their young children as well.

Yeah I've read it. Some of it seems bizarre and goofy, but I didn't see anything that makes me dismiss the whole account.

This story has been out there for, what, 72 hours, and the capes already want this woman to disappear? Relax. It's going to be uncomfortable for a while. If the claims are as baseless as we all hope she'll be gone eventually. But this rush to judgment in support of a guy you don't know from Adam is odd. I'm not talking to you specifically but rather the vibe in this thread.
