Gortat is part of Polish National Team before Eurobasket 2015. He joined the team on 1st Aug.

First game without a practice with other guys: Poland - Czech Republic 70-52

3pts 3 rebs in just 14 mins 1/8 FG Nobody actually cared about his performance he wasn't predicted to play in it, but wanted so his game was limited.

Second game: Poland - Czech Republic 65-64

8 pts 13 rebs in 25 mins 3/7 FG behind the closed doors game, but as the stats show he improved a lot.

Satoransky alert!
1st Game: 27 mins 8 pts 6 rebs 2 as 2/6 FG
2nd Game: 36 mins 11 pts 9 rebs 6 as 4/9 FG

Man, that's a low scoring game. 52 points? WTF?

But if Satoransky managed 11 points and 6 assists out of the team's 52 points, that's a pretty good outing.

Nate -> welcome to Europe ;-D

That was 1st game of both teams before Eurobasket. Its basically like training.

Satoransky is really good, based on what I've seen in Barcelona games.

BTW. Otto just came back from Poland, he had pretty fun time in there :-)

You have to note that we play 10 minute quaters as well. Satoransky made it in second game which was much closer. This was first part of preparation so many players got minutes, rotations and checking stuff.

Gortat expressed his desire to come back to number #13 on his back after the news of Kevin Seraphin signing with Knicks.

Look what I've found... Back in 2005, DraftExpress wrote this: "Watching him, it’s pretty obvious that the game doesn’t come easy to him. That’s why it’s rather difficult to picture him developing his offensive game to a good enough degree to become something more than a garbage man".

They said he will not be drafted because he lacks certain skills (like offensive game&bball IQ). 10 years later ... we know who he became :-) http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Marcin-Gortat-120/

Interesting. Gortat was a soccer player in his youth - practicing 2 hours a day from grade school up until age 17. This meshes well with Doc's theory that big men with a soccer background are intrinsically good help defenders because of soccer's focus on court awareness and playing the angles.

And he was not playing in basketball until he was 17. That's quite late ;-)

To add to the discoussion; from what I know he was a goalkeeper.

"I would say 40 percent of my success in basketball is from being a goalie,";Thanks to being a goalie, my footwork is way better, my hands are way better, and I'd say I'm tougher because I was falling down on the ground all my life

Eurobasket starts on Saturday. First game vs. Bosnia and Hercegovina 15:00 polish time i guess it's 9 am for USA time(this used on nba.com ECT?)

EDIT
Gortat confirmed jersey number change next NBA season. Will wear number 13.

Gortat just had double double (10/11) against France. Good game even though Gobert blocked him couple times. He also had a chance of hitting a 3 for tie but he missed ;)
