Why was it hard to feel happy for Big Z? Buying into the BS scapegoatism that was thrown his way when things went bad? Guy was a solid pitcher and the best the Cubs had for a stretch.

His frequent tantrums in the dugout got real old real fast. I am not saying that he wasn't a good pitcher for the Cubs, but he was a fool! I prefer to see a guy who has had a journey like Arrieta succeed rather than an imature locker room bully.

Z was a locker room bully? A passionate guy trying to win on a team that constantly sucked is hardly an issue. He was a scapegoat. "Fool" or not, he contributed and had more heart than half those Cubs teams he was on.

Yet the Wrigley Fans will constantly champion hot garbage like a Mike Fontenot, etc. It blows my mind.

Big Z was a douche in my opinoin. I'm not going to continue arguing that because it is endless. It's good to see Arrieta as a humbling success story.

The dynamic this year is great. I believe chemistry plays a big role in any championship team. It like watching the guys mess around and goof off. Especially with such a long season hanging with the same guys, it's good to see that they aren't bitter at eachother.

Great outing by Haren. A couple more would be nice.

Got a little worried at the end tonight, but still taking first two against Cardinals is awesome.

Yes, just another regular season win, but these ar starting to feel really good.

And Rizzo clubbed his 100th homer. Not too shabby in this day of no PEDs

Uggg. Bullpen epically cost the Cubs the sweep in St. Louis today. At least they won the series.

Nice wins in the double header today. Arietta was a beast as usual (he deserves the Cy Young and I hope the saber metric nerds don't short change him in the voting) and Hendricks was effective.

Great game by Schwarber. Agree that Russell has done well in the 9 slot. Love the flexibility that Baez brings. Also think that while he's probably past the point of being appreciated by the media for anything, Castro has been an asset since his benching.

Magic number at 13!!!!!!

i think a big (and subtle) thing that helped jake's cy young case was him getting that era just below 2, its just barely there but being 1.99 is just more appealing to the eye than 2.01 even though its maybe a run difference at this time of year

Go figure, win the series in STL and then lucky to split in Philly. It's the little things that worry me this season with the Cubs. Hopefully they win the series in Pittsburgh.

Big win. Guarantees a one game PO with Bucs would be at Wrigley.

How so? Only if the Cubs tied the Pirates at the end of the season or had a better record. Wild Card 1 hosts Wild Card 2. Cubs, as of tonight, are 2 games behind Pittsburgh. Also, they still play the Pirates 3 times.

Overwhelmed is what the Cubs did yesterday. Not used to that. So many pitches looked at, so many lefties, so many righties, bringing in studs to sub for studs. I am impressed. Get two starters next year and some bullpen help. This team is going to be very dominant for a while.
