Re: Official Chelsea FC Thread
Personally I don't think Costa is doing too bad, he just hasn't been getting any service with Cesc and Hazard playing like turd.

Re: Official Chelsea FC Thread
Is our best player on loan at West Ham? (only half serious) Never understood that move.
I'd like to see a game between our current first team vs the loan army/reserves. Take the names off the jerseys and ask a random person who doesn't know the team to tell you which players get paid the most money.

It only took about 8 months for Chelsea to break another striker. "Chelsea, where every striker not named Drogba comes to ruin their career."

Re: Official Chelsea FC Thread
I don't think Costa's been any good either. The only player who's playing as he should is Begovic. Of course, the keeper being your best player by far is usually a sign of a bad team.

Costa, Terry, Ivan and Matic getting the boot tomorrow. Baba, Cahill, Remy, Oscar and RLC all likely to start.

Re: Official Chelsea FC Thread
Please let the be the case, I know it's all paper talk but....
But anyway, I wouldn't be too upset if Costa/Cesc/Terry started tomorrow, if there's a game that can HOPEFULLY get them to finally kick of their seasons then this could be it.

Right on the money.
Wish I could watch this game now.

Re: Official Chelsea FC Thread
I haven't seen the game yet, will watch later tonight. I wonder if this was an expected correction to the mean, just a out maned opponent, or a result of getting some fresh faces (including Oscar back) in the lineup - probably a bit of all 3.

Re: Official Chelsea FC Thread
As much as I love Costa being on this team at times, his lunacy will cost us a game or two, in fact these next few games where he's banned might've already cost us. I think I'm again alone in saying this but I think Jose needs to start planning for life post-Costa by January at least.

Yeah, he plays a completely different game to everyone else. I couldn't care less if he's a dirty player, but he's simply not someone who you can trust.

Re: Official Chelsea FC Thread
I feel the same way. I am not a big fan of his. I don't appreciate his style. I don't find it funny, cute, endearing, just annoying. And in his current form, he's more of a distraction than an asset. Just one of the many concerns I have about the team currently. It is only a matter of time before he gets a red card in a big game. I know he hasn't been sent off since 2012, but his luck will end soon, especially as he continues to put himself in the spotlight.

Re: Official Chelsea FC Thread
Or even Remy, hope one of them shows up during the League Cup and Costa's banned games.
Jose needs to pony up for Cavani, money should be no object, heck if we can swap Costa for him the better.

Re: Official Chelsea FC Thread
Lets talk about Ivanovic for a few minutes.
He's having a really rough start to the year according to stats (maybe: see link), the media, announcers, twitter, other forums and my eyeballs. Yet, JM keeps playing him every single minute of every single game, except the league cup game.
http://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/2015/9/30/9422061/branislav-ivanovic-tackles-exposed-and-i-dont-mean-no-clothes
What is JMs thought process on keeping Ivanovic in the lineup and on the field for basically every meaningful minute this year, while at the same time dropping other big names from at least 1 high profile game (or more)?
Possibilties
- JM sees everything everyone else sees but believes Ivanovic just needs to play thru the bad form, so he keeps giving him more chances. JM knows that Ivanovic's main problem is confidence, and dropping him would wreck his fragile confidence ever further.
- JM is not comfortable with any other options at fullback, even though he knows Ivanovic is in poor form. Doesn't want to play Baba, and move Azpi to right back, doesn't want any other extreme alternatives at right back, such as Zouma or Ramires or youth.
- With Terry being dropped, JM feels he needs one of his two captains to stay on the field, poor form be damned. He'd rather use Ivanovic at right back, rather than Terry at CB.
- JM views Ivanovic's performances very different than the rest of us and does not see Ivanovic as a problem.
- Its just confirmation bias on the part of the media, twitter, forums and my eyeballs. Now that we are all looking directly at Ivanovic and he has been the scapegoat for the season, we are unfairly magnifying his mistakes.
- Ivanovic is feeling some of the effects of not having Willian on his side to protect him lately.
- JM refuses to pair Terry with anyone other than Azpi on that left side. That means Azpi has to stay at LB when Terry plays. But JM also wants to have at least one of Terry or Ivanovic out there at all times for their "leadership" which also prevents the possibility of a Baba, Cahill, Zouma, Azpi backline. Its the lesser of evils, unless the JM reverts back to sitting deeper and trying to counter every team instead.
- Ivanovic is the victim of team's ruthlessly attacking his side of the field due to the perception that he is the weakness (a result of having a few bad games early in the season). He is having to deal with an unfair percentage of attacks, of which no mortal RB could withstand (except Azpi of course)
- The real problem is Fabregas being a complete revolving door in the midfield.
- Ivanovic threatned to beat JM's ass if he took him off the field.
- Ivanovic has blackmail on JM.

Ivanovic, Matic, Fab need to be dropped
Costa and Hazard need to be reminded they are supposed to be world class players.
