If he did that in New York, us fans will be hyping him up also, and we probably won't mind as much because he is on our team and not one of our hated rivals during the 90s.
But ever since that injury things has been going downhill for the guy, on and off the court. People and fans loved him during his MVP speech, and for good reason, because he seemed like a good guy. But now with this rape charge, and this reputation of him just phoning it in when he is injured to just get a paycheck, that speech seemed very long ago.
He's still relatively young and I think he can still have a long career in this league, but I doubt he will ever reach the status he got in 2011. Bulls fans will move onto Butler, who I think is a good player, but he isn't some MVP guy and a talent that can lead his team to a title. They are still looking for that guy to take the torch from MJ, a torch that Rose has fumbled and dropped.
WAIT. Who said anything about injuries?!?!?
Derrick Rose was given a free pass the MINUTE he was drafted because he was a native Chicago boy and it's the Bulls.
Keep in mind, before Michael Jordan won his first title, in 1991 the franchise won ZERO championships. In fact, the Bulls were right up there with the Cubs as a futile franchise.
So this idea that Chicago is a basketball mecca has been FABRICATED by the media LONG BEFORE Derrick Rose was born.
As for rape charges, Kobe Bryant was in trouble in Colorado and he survived it.
The DIFFERENCE is, Derrick Rose has won NOTHING...Kobe has rings to substantiate his claim as one of the best ever (like it or not).
