it doesn't matter who starts game 1 they all will have long lay-offs.

If Harvey goes game 1 and Degrom goes game 2.

The layoff for Noah would be 12 days.

Degroms layoff would be 7 days which is an awkward number. A lot of times this year he pitched on 6 days rest which would align him for Game 1.

Harvey is already under 9 days rest so it really doesn't matter at this point. Instead let him throw a simulated game on friday or saturday to have him in line for Game 3 which would be Friday night at Citi field.

Harvey should be used for game 3 at home.

Degrom going 1st and Harvey going 3rd means that Degrom pitches game 5 and Harvey game 7. You want that? I want Degrom pitching game 6 or 7. Degrom finishing after game 5 is too early. Degrom not pitching game 1 has nothing to do with his Ace status.

why are you assuming there will be 6 or 7 games in the series. Do you really want to run the risk of having Degrom only pitch once the entire series?? What if we lose in 6 games? And we have degrom sitting for game 7 and can't use him? Degrom is the mets best pitcher. Pitch him 1 and 5. And then he will also be ready for relief in game 7 if we need him.

I place Degrom and Syndergaard in slightly higher regard than Harvey so I trust them more in game 6 and 7. If we lose in 5 games before degrom can pitch game 6 than it wasnt meant to be. Im not gonna start game planning for being down 3-1 going into game 5. And my scenario of having Harvey pitch game 5 down 3-1 isnt even bad of a scenario.

Degrom has been a road warrior. He pitched excellent games in LA game 1 and 5 NLDS, and a great game 3 in Chicago. I trust him most for game 6 and 7 on the road in the world series over harvey (rather than Degrom game 5 at home and Harvey game 6/7 on the road).

Its about maximizing our advantages. How great was it having Degrom pitch game 3 on the road up 2-0 and just completely take away any hope from the Cubs

Yea, you don't want to assume there will be a game 6 or 7. You want to get who you think is the best pitcher to start it off.

You wouldn't want Degrom available for 3 games in the World Series?

I know you are a mets fan and I know you watched game 1 he pitched in LA vs Kershaw, and you don't want Degrom starting game 1?

Winning game one changes the entire series. It improves your odds to win the series ten fold.

If he pitches game 1 and game 5. He will be also available for game 7 out of the bullpen which would be a huge advantage for the Mets.

ding ding ding. You can't line up Degrom for game 7 because there might not be a game 7. It's as simple as that.

I think you have to keep their oder. Harvey will have the longest layoff so you have to start him off...Harvey/Thor/deGrom/Matz.

That first series was a 5 game series. I wanted Degrom to pitch game 1 and a potential game 5 winner take all. Game and game 6 in the world series.

there is absolutely no guaruntee you get to game 7. I am not sure why you have to assume that all 7 game series go 7 games??? that doesn't happen.

If the mets lose game in 6 games and have degrom only pitch once in a 6 game series you would be fired as a manager the next day. Saying it wasn't meant to be that we didn't get to game 7 is not a valid excuse. Degrom will pitch either game 1 or 2.

so Harvey->Degrom|||Thor->Matz->Harvey|||Degrom->Thor

I pitch Degrom game one just because I want the best chance to win game 1. I will worry about the other later games at a later date. I want Degrom going in the biggest game which the biggest game is the next game. Game 1 I believe should be Degrom.

It is a tough choice. LA hit Harvey pretty well when Harvey had a layoff. Then he returned against the Cubs on more regular rest and made it look like another day at the office. DeGrom usually pitches well after good long rest.

But, I have to go with mpharris here. The layoffs already happened like he said. All these pitchers will get a lot of rest.

I can see starting Harvey if you think he's the best guy to win Game 1. But I think DeGrom pitches here since he's done well away and that's how I want to start the series.

I would probably go DeGrom, Thor, Harvey, Matz, Degrom, Thor, Harvey.

It allows Degrom to come out of relief in game 7 if we need him. And Game 3 is such a big start back home with the crowd going crazy I think Harvey will handle that the best because he has pitched at home twice

I do like Degrom setting up game 6 or 7. Game 6 may be too soon with only 1 day rest after a start. But game 7 definitely. Ive trusted Reed but Clippard has been shaky. Reed 7, Degrom 8, Family 9 would work

The only negative about having deGrom available out of the pen in a potential game 7 is that anyone who consistently watches Mets ball knows deGrom is most susceptible to giving up runs in his 1st inning of work. Then he usually settles down. Just something to think about...

Yea, I rather have Thor in as a relief pitcher. His fastball will always be hard to hit.

DeGrom needs an inning or two to know if his fastball or breaking ball is his go-to pitch.

I love degrom but he is not better than harvey, plus he can have that big of a break

Harvey
Degrom
Syndergaard
Matz
Harvey
Degrom
Syndergaard

It won't make it to 6, mets take either series in 5 or less
