Re: LAC@SAC (game #1)
so, i don't know what kind of games we're gonna get paul pierce over the season, but i think his value is readily apparent on the court, not just for the 3's but for the mismatches.
one thing we literally could not do last year was punish a PG who was switched onto barnes. with pierce, not only does he attack, he drags his mark into the post right away. there were a couple specific instances in which he didn't just have an advantage, he completely obliterated darren collison. this is going to be gigantic for us, and if you guys noticed whenever pierce had good position against a smaller defender he always took advantage of the matchup. that'll be another huge thing for us.
also, you know i was kinda coming around on cousins but i just saw him knee rivers in the hip with .6 seconds left. FK that guy FOREVER.

Deja Vu
For a team whose prior significant game was lost due to choking away a big lead, you would think the team would be cognizant about putting its opponent away when we have them on the ropes. Both BG and CP3 had great games but were struggling during the late moments until Pierce settled things down toward restoring order.
DJ's free-throw shooting remains lacking despite whatever physical improvements he's made to his shooting form; the problem has always primarily been mental more than anything else. The team free-throw shooting was disappointing, but luckily, so was Sacramento's.
In addition to the Truth, another key newcomer was Josh Smith with his defense off the bench. The 3-point defense was pathetic. Crawford started off badly as usual, but recovered to put up decent numbers. During the post-game show, Mark Rogondino said that when Doc was about to sub Jamal in late in the game, he declined citing that the team had a mismatch advantage. If true, I find myself surprised and give him kudos for thinking team first, which I've been vocal in criticizing him for not doing enough of.

if so, this changes a ton of my personal opinions about Jamal. maybe he actually saw a basketball advantage with the match ups we had out there, or simply a respect he has for Paul Pierce, but none the less he indeed thought of the team first before his own.

Re: LAC@SAC (game #1)
There were a lot of things I really liked tonight.
- Pierce's contributions, as I mentioned above, will give us a dynamic we haven't had for as long as I can remember.
- Smith/wes were very athletic and very active defensively. It is making the difference. Also, even if wes is derided for being mediocre, i saw at least a couple small plays he contributed to defensively that won't show up in the box score. One other good sign was that he didn't hesitate at all on the catch and shoot 3. Good additions.
- Lance was pretty solid, definitely not the fantasy impact player we saw in indiana, but as expected he toned down his overdribble insanity and some other dumb stuff he does and played within himself. I thought he did an admirable imitation of matt barnes, and as he gets more comfortable he'll start pushing a much higher ceiling. I'm glad that he is sticking to shooting those corner 3's that we need him to shoot, even if he had a bad year last year.
- You know, most star players get better every year somehow. Sometimes they get to where you expect them to be pretty quickly and stay there, like durant, but mostly what you see is what you get. With blake, he seems to evolve in great ways every year and each year is a gigantic step in a different direction. I literally have no idea what he is going to unleash on the league this regular season, let alone in the playoffs. I'm not sure i've really ever seen that from anyone, even the all-time greats. His shot was FANTASTIC tonight and it is here to stay.
If i had to cite flaws tonight (can you fix the hole in doc's brain when it comes to jamal crawford?) i'd say we're a little too pass happy, which will lead to a lot of bad turnovers. I'm not sure that'll ever go away, but at least smith wasn't taking horrible shots and his defense/rebounding was pretty on. We probably should have won by 10+ points but i don't think cp3 had one of his usual games (could barely feel his presence till pretty late in the game), and the team didn't abuse the cp3/dj pick and roll combo as much as we usually do. Austin didn't really get going either and his shot was looking superb in the preseason.
Overall it feels like there's a substantial amount for us to improve upon in many areas. There are also a lot of other things that feel like they're already set in place, things that i was worried we might not focus on, but apparently have been made points of emphasis. All in all, great signs of where we can go from here.

Re: LAC@SAC (game #1)
I had trouble getting in the forum last night. I enjoyed watching the game since I don't get to watch many. Based on how we started I thought we would blow out the Kings. At least we were in control until the 4th quarter. I had a feeling we could withstand the Kings run and pull out the win.
Even before I saw the Kings play I knew they would be improved based on the roster moves they made. If they can build some chemistry and play together they should be able to fight for a playoff spot.

I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

I forgot that league pass has a free preview going so I'll be able to watch the game.
is it just going to be audio only or that cause it hasnt started yet?
It isn't just audio, I was able to watch every game last night. I think it's online and through your cable provider. It would be great if I could get League Pass this year.......... But I can buy individual games if I want so that isn't all bad.

Re: LAC@SAC (game #1)
Although it was much closer than I was hoping, and there were times late in the game where I was really frustrated, I liked what I saw for the most part:
- Pierce: I loved what he did late in the game. He just does what you want him to do. BG and CP were struggling, and Pierce just went in on Collison and Rondo. It was like a video game; screw all that dribbling, let me just go right in there and post a guy up and go for a high percentage shot. Instead of praying for our two (heavily guarded) stars to hit a shot, now we have another savvy vet who can actually score when needed.
- Smith: nice to have another shot blocker on the team. Had a couple of timely weakside blocks.
- Lance: He was pretty solid in limited minutes. Once he gets used to his role and the fact that he's on a contending team, I think he has a chance to get closer to what he was during his Indiana days.
I'm excited to see how tonight's game goes.

just throwing it out there, i don't know how you feel about it, but ballstreams has worked great for me at a much lower price than league pass. Actually paid for the 2014-2015 season, froze my account once the playoffs started because its all on national tv and its going to be unfrozen next week and i should have enough time left until this years playoffs start.
I don't know how it works on devices other than a pc, but the streams have always worked perfectly for me, can choose between the different broadcasts, no black outs, saved games, even extra stuff like tnt after games are done. After doing league pass for a few years, switching over to ballstreams has made following basketball much easier. I have seen complaints from some people about lag, or some broadcasts not working. I'm not sure if they have bad internet connections or maybe were trying to watch it on a device other than a pc. Worth a try IMO
